Default GP P-38??

I just finished cleaning up a couple of OS .25s and a couple of the OS .35s and was thinking of something I could put these small engines in just for fun. Anyone have the plans and templates for the GP P-38??? That could be a fun little plane!!!

I don't have the plans, but with a pair of 25's the P-38 is a sweet flying plane. I love mine. Good Luck, Dave

A guy down the street has a GP P-38 hanging in his garage. It has been there for at least 5 years and hasn't moved. Whenever I see him outside I talk to him about it. Hopefully one of these days I'll convince him to sell it to me.

Just for kicks I opened my 09 tower catalog and they still have it as an ARF. Being as it would be an IDGAD airplane maybe the ARF would do?? ARFARFARFARFARF. I was thinking more on the line of the .35s though. After my last over powering job maybe I better think more on it though. The wing is supposed to stay on the plane in think!!!

Checkout the Wing Mfg P-38 or A-26. Either would be great with your .35s. I built the P-38 several years ago, with Mag .40s and it was ballistic. A friend had the A-26 with .35 FPs and it was a good flyer too. They also have an F-82. http://www.wingmfg.com/Pages/WingCat.html

I think the Great Planes P-38 was designed for 15 or 25. I am thinking the 35s might over stress the booms on here. The 25s are plenty of power. Good Luck, Dave

I have Magnum .28s in mine and it is relatively fast and fun to fly. There is a long thread on this site about this plane. I do have plans but am not sure how to go about getting them copied for you.

There is a Profile 38 kit over on the big auction site. It's # 160443801491. It's described as "not" complete. Maybe a place to start.

Gene, if you're talking about the Profile-38 I had two 25LAs on one and it needed a lot of tail weight.

Two 15's would have been better

Plans are the easy part, you just take them to Kinko's, trouble is kit plans don't show the parts in profile so they don't work as builders plans. Because kits are almost a thing of the past you will see me harping about making templates for all your new kits. What can I say, I'm a broken record. Templates are just tracings of all the parts so you can cut your own kits.
Mike, Yep, that's the plane. I just happen to have two .35s and two .25s on hand and I'm looking for something fun to stick them in and I remembered the GP P-38. I thought they killed the kit and I wanted to do some bashing but I will start saving up and just get the ARF. I will ask around, maybe one of the guys at the field has one hanging on there wall?? Engines I have, plane count has gotten low!!!

I don't think they ever made an ARF of the profile P-38.

You are correct, I was looking at the kit and thinking ARF. Thanks for pointing that out. I may be able to talk someone into a fathers day gift?? Probably not!!
