I added a 2nd fuel tank on the CG since I put a .61 in mine and I like keeping the CG the same throughout the flight. Works pretty well actually. I don't really remember but I think I've got 12oz. or so total. But with the .46 I'd think 8oz will be fine. This plane flies so well at slower speeds that you'll get pretty good flight times even on a small tank.

I have this plane with a 46fx on it. Don't know who built it... flies awesome with the 46fx. i have an 11x4 on it right now and plan on trying a 12x4 soon as i can get one. With the wood 11x4 i can get it right on the deck in a hover at about 3/4 throttle and still pull out vertical. You'll love this plane. It has a very wide flight envelope... really slows down on landings. Good luck with it!

Well, I started construction tonight and I'm sad to report that a problem has come up and im afraid my fix might have botched the wing. I got the frame of the first wing together, and then when trying to put the first piece of sheet balso on i followed the directions against my better judgment and when the sheet had to bend to come over the the wing the sheet cracked down the length of the wing.. I used thin CA, sealed up the crack, and got it as close to the right shape as possible.. but, now ive got some CA bumps on balsa sheet, hopefully they will sand off and this will not be lost...grrr...
sorry.. I had to vent..
this is my first kit and it sure is agervating to botch something out of pure lack of experience.

Outlaw,
Next time put some warm water in a spray bottle and spray the outside of the sheeting and allow the water to soak in a couple minutes before trying to bent the sheeting around the structure. It doesn't take a lot of water, just enough to lightly wet the surface. This makes the balsa much more plyable for shaping.

thanks guys...
when I looked at it this morning it didnt look as bad as i had first thought. I got the chunks of CA off the surface and sanded it a little. It's not perfect, but I think it is still ok. I will definatly use the water trick on the next one.

I'm also thinking of making the SE my first kit.
You guys have any photos of your progress, tips?
Or if anyone has a site that documents (lots of pics) this kit being built I would greatly appreciate a link.
thx

I also had problems with the sheeting. I ended up cutting it out between two ribs, adding a rib doubler and then putting the sheeting back on. After filling the joints and sanding it came out great. It's a matter of judgement how bad the wrinkles have to be before you take the steps I did.

I've been eyeing this model for a couple of years, and wish I had one. I might have to just order one.
Here is a notepage on contruction tips or suggestions. Decide for yourself if they are relevant. http://users.rcn.com/llfc/se_tips.html
I've seen several Sig Something Extras, and they always are impressive. Just a good sport plane with a sprinkling of scale. It's a good design.
I would like one.
Enjoy the building process, and good flying.

Hi,
I'm in the final stages of building a SE kit. I've got a small site up and running with some pics of the progress if anyone is interested.

The build was very straight forward and I can't wait to finish the trim scheme and take it out for the maiden. I've read a lot of great things about this plane.
