RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Nchrome, I thought that I was the only nut that wanted to build a "Bee" with a 80 in. wing. I convert all my own gas engines from Homelite. If you get a set of plans email me & I will buy or purchase a set from you. Right now I am flying a lazy bee with a OS 25. It really tears up the sky. I am sure a gasser will be the wildest.

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Pete913, noticed that you built a 72 in. Bee. Do you still have the plans? Iam really looking for a set to build a 80 in. lazy bee. Right now I am flying a Clancy Lazy Bee ARF with a OS 25. I build alot of 1/4 scale planes using Homelite gas engines but I think a gasser in the bee would be way to heavy. Hope you or someone out there can help.

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Guys,
I don't want to jump in here whining like Poor Pitiful Pearl or anything but I've been spending a lot of time lately trying to find either a 40" Lazy Bee kit or a set of plans so that I might scratch build a Bee. I'm feeling left out and I've been a day late and (mostly) a dollar short on the eBay offerings. Just want a set of plans or a kit. I'll gladly pay for copying and shipping some plans and would also be interested in buying a kit (if anyone knows where to find one). I'd really like to fly a Bee! Appreciate any help anyone can offer. John Terrell [email protected] Thanks again, -jt-[&o][&o] |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
JAYELTEE & JADEC241 After the hollidays are over with I have a friend that will copy the plans for me (if I can remember where I put them) and I'll try to send the both of you a copy just send me an address and sit back and wait a while and I'll try to send them hopefully by the end of January. Hang in there and we will see what happens.

Thanks a lot, partner. I'm watching the price of that guy. I don't really want one that big but, if that's all I can get . . .
Thanks for the note. -jt- |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Fellow Bee Fans,
I found Speedy Bee Plans (40"ws) by Andy Clancy on the RCM Website (http://www.rcmmagazine.com/). The plan number is 1218, cost $19.00 (plus shipping). Three plan sheets and the photo on the RCM site shows the S-Bee on Floats. Also the NewBee (40" ws) by Adrian Page, plan number 1277, $15.75. I know this isn't a "Clancy Bee", but some of you have built them and it is of a similar type (clown/cartoon) plane. For those having trouble finding plans, this is one source. Haven't found any othe plans, yet! |

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Skylarkmk1,
You may want to add some downthrust to your engine. It will want to nose up past 1/4 throttle, been there....done that. I have top tell you.....that is one sweet looking Bee......all the things I love in a bee you have on yours! The "11 Trexlers and the car shocks just do it for me! The colors look great too....nice job bro. I would like to build another one day.....just not enough time....my gyros come first right now. I will fly vicariously thru everyone else's Bees here on RCU. Keep it up guys!!!!! http://www.putfile.com/imsofaman/images/28940 My old Bee photos http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/gallery/14100/ More photos of my bees....towards the bottom of page. The only way to TRUE Beedom is thru a kit or scratch building! Dave |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
very nice looking. have lots of fun flying it. you won't be sorry. whats next on the board? dick

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Dave,
I noticed the thrust line also after I took the picture, it has been fixed. The fire wall is at right angles to the top of the fuselage. With the top of the fuse level (zero degrees) the engine (and stab) also read zero (according to my Robarts Incidence meter). I have now added down thrust of about 3 degrees to start with, will need to fly to find out if it needs any more/less. Usually, any flat bottom wing will climb with the application of power above a certain trimmed out power setting, we will see. You have some neat looking "Bees" of your own. What did you make your "Sylvester" out of, looks like some kind of foam. I need to do a "Snoopy" for another project. Dick, The next project "planned" [8D] for the board is finishing a new wing for my "hack" test bed, a BUSA Stick 40 Plus (with added flaps and barn door ailerons), then finish up an old MK Kato Ki-61 Hien "Tony" that's been around for 15-20 years with just the fuse and tail feathers built. I "inherited" it from a freind and it only had a couple of wing parts left in the box. RCM had plans that were a redraw of the original MK plans with all of the parts shown, so now I can finally finish the "Tony". However, ;) I may just have to make a set of old time floats for the LB (take about 3 nights)first, a pair of Ugly Sticks (have the parts cut out for 2), and maybe a Big Lazy Bee (72" ) and Snoopy's Dog House. So little time, too many airplanes, not enough room :(. Thanks for the comments, I hope to have it flying soon. Blue and yellow are the basic colors I use for most of my planes, although I will do the "Tony" in scale and the "Ugly Sticks", 1 in traditional Red and the other in Tan. Again Thanks for the comments. |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Merry Christmas to all you Beekeepers out there. I received plans for the Lazy Bee from a friend which included the basic bee, the huge bee (72 incher), the floats and the manual. What a great Christmas! Now comes the building. I'm pleased about not being able to find a kit -- I'd rather build from plans. I'll take some photos as I go and post some shots while the build is happening. I'm not the greatest builder but, from the looks of this stuff, I should be able to have a Lazy Bee in the air come springtime!
To everyone who has offered help and advice, thanks a lot. The Lazy Bee community is made up of a lot of caring, generous people. Let's keep talking. Save the Bee! Be well, -jt- |

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Post 160 has links of my old bees. I only have two left. I have a Speedy Bee....no engine on it and a Lazy/Gyro bee....it needs some work. I smacked up a little last year. I am hot and heavy in mid design with my DAG series autogyros and just dont have time for all the bees anymore.

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
CG on the BEE, Hi everyone, I have been sitting on my Lazy Bee for 5 years now and figure I would like to get it in the air. Lost the plans but it's built so not a big problem except I forgot to mark the CG, Can anyone look at their plans for the 40" size and let me know the CG location? Many thanks.

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Jon,
The plans show the CG at 3-3/4" back from the leading edge of the wing (1/8" in front of the Main Spar), or about even with the front of the 2nd window on the fuselage. Adjust to suit your flying style, maybe an 1/8" at a time, this plane is very short coupled, so a little change can make a big difference. BTW, there was an interesting article in Flying Models magazine (Feb 07) by Dean Pappas in R/C Pattern section on trimming a trainer for better performance and he does mention the flat bottom wing like the LB has. Not that the LB will ever be a pattern plane ;), it sure is a fun sport plane :). |

FBFs,
Should have posted this picture with the others on post 159, so here it is. During construction, wanting to be safe, I had my rudder and fuselage given a "CAT" scan from nose to tail by one of my helpers. Didn't sniff out any problems and everything was completed just fine :). |
