RE: Telemaster 40

Boy Oh Boy, just got back from a mini-vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. Had a great time and is always good to get away for a bit. I live in a State that I can head to the coast or the mountains:D.
Noticed I had a couple of replys to my thoughts about the power source for the Tele 40. When I got home Friday, I had a package w/a Monster Power 46 and all the goodies, this will more than likely be the power plant I use for this bird, however, I also have a Senior, that will have a 4 Stroke in the nose!
As always, I thank everyone for you thoughts and ideas, thats what makes this Forum so good, everyone is willing to impart their thoughts.

RE: Telemaster 40

Well, thought I would post a small note: IT IS HOT IN THE SOUTH! I want to work on the Tele, but it is so hot after I get off of work I can not stay in the garage for long. Maybe I can get some work time in tonight after the sun starts down, providing the power does not go out again. That has been a bit of a stick in the mud too, have lost power several times now due to the weather.
So day before yesterday, I bought stock again in Tower Hobbies w/the purchase of a RC Glider I can build in my study which is filled with good ole cold air.

OK, :) It has cooled down some from the sweltering heat we have been having for the past week and add to that some rough storms too boot. Had some time today toget back after a long break from the Tele. In the photos you will see a G10 wing doubler cut for me by a good friend that is not f/this plane, but is for a Senior Tele. You will also notice the power source I have went with for this bird, Monster Power for a monster plane! Well it is big to me, I build 1/2A most of the time before starting down the road of RC.
Any how, working on getting left/right glued up and starting to figure out the former #1 thru #4. Also working out the engine mount box f/the electric motor. Alot of BIG cooling holes will need to be cut[&:]
Also took me awhile to figure out the cheek doublers, it would have been really great if Hobby Lobby might would consider a parts dia. to ID what you are looking for in this box of lumber?????

Duco,
Your build looks great, nice work. I'll give you $35 for that junky electric motor and then you just hang that Saito on the nose, deal?

I flew my Tele last Wed., absolutely love it, tomorrow will be fly day.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/thumbup.gif

Well, I would be more than glad to do just that, but I have my heart set to put the Monster 46 in the nose f/now. That Saito is setting on my desk in the study all clean and oiled, thinking CUB f/that one!
I am glad you have yours in the air, I will be happy to get mine off the board!
I pray the wind under your wings and the Bird of Paradise upon thy head! LOL

Have been pretty busy and not alot done to the Tele, but some progress is better than none!
Also had this delivered this week and have been setting it up. Hope to have a local contact me about some teaching/air time this coming week.
Also, the temps have just been wicked and can not take it too long in the garage, so I also have a inside project started.

I don't want to mess with the direction of this thread but DUCO if you haven't watched EDMOOR's "Original Clipped Cub" video on his channel, go and watch it... That guy's pretty awesome. I can't even imagine the yearsof knowledge wrapped up that guy's brain.

? Help me out here, I am ole school and need stuff spelled out to understand?
Edmoor I am familiar with and he does have a sound understanding of design and function, but I fail to see what his knowledge has too w/me! And when I tried to watch his video, I got a Customer No Longer w/You Tube?
As for the direction, I am building according to the instructions as given in the kit? Albeit, from my over 40 years of building, I do draw from that as well![X(]
Again, I do not understand what it is you see?[:-]

I admitt, this is my 1st Telemaster build, but from what I have seen, it does not present any real trouble in building it. But if I am mucking up, please tell me.[&:]

I think this was a look-see thing. He did not say you were doing anything wrong. Get on with the build you are doing a fine job.

Sorry Duco, What I meant wasI didn't want to get your build thread off topic but just wondered if you've seen his other flying videos, namely the Clipped WIng Cub.The knowledge thing referred to his Tele 40 build video. Unfortunately it seems I ended up gettingthe thread off track anyways by using the wrong wording.I was for sure not trying to say you were doing anything wrong.Next time I'llkeep quiet.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../red_smile.gif

Good luck.

Howdy Duco,
Things are looking good, have you picked out the finished colors yet? Usually at this point in the build I'm starting to stress over covering material type and color selection/pattern.

Hey DUCO,
I have a 40 Telemaster that I built 25+ years ago and I have been beating the sh.. out of her ever sense then and I did NO changes and to her built to plan!! The Germans designed her and it seems to work as the flex built in saves her on my BAD landings..LOL . I built my first in 1970 and REALLY loved her!!!!! I have BOUNCED her MANY times and she still flies today. I usually just LURK here but the Telemaster holds a special place in my heart...Please enjoy your GREAT build and the many years that WILL follow. You seem to have really good building skills and PLEASE don't ever loose the joy that comes from building!!!!!
TTYL,
Bruce

Thanks for you encourgment, I just love this design and sooo looking forward to flying her. I do agree, I hope I never loose the joy of building, but admitt it is a curse as well. I am a perfectionist and for a builder, that can be a problem. I seem to never ever leave well enough alone![&o]
I will admitt, I do like the German design better than the one you get from Hobby Lobby, but hey, I will take what ever I can get. I also have a Senior and who lnows, maybe a Giant in the future?
Please feel free to add to this thread anytime you like. Looks to me you are a ole hand @ the Tele and know all the good and bad both![8D]

Yes, I too start to think about color @ this stage, not because I feel I have got anywhere in building, but it takes me forever to settle on a color scheme!
So far, White fuselage, Red wing and tail feathers, Red flash down side of fuselage, black vinyl AMA numbers on the upper right wing.
@ least thats where I have come too for now, covering, ole school, World-Tex I hope.

Build is coming along great, your Tele should fly great. I just got back from flying mine, more I fly it the more I like it.
Telemaster is a rudder plane, will not make a coronated turn without leading first with rudder, I like that!

DUCO,

I maidened my TELE yesterday. It is really HOT here and has been windy but the wind settled down yesterday. Not sure how many times that I have heard this said but .... HONESTLY, I did not have to put any trims into it. It flew really well right off the board. I went with the OS 65AX and had some initial issues with it but seem to have worked them out now. See my post no.11 on this forum for other modifications made. I willl try to send some photos but I havn't figured out yet how to do that yet.

Jim H.
