Received your plans today Robert, thanks so much they won't go to waste. They look great... I like your story better than mine. I hope your back is better.

Tonight I turned my attention to the opposite side of Ryan.This time to make a balsa ring if you will that transitions the end of the fuse to the cowl. This ring goes all the way around and should prove to be challenging to make. This ring is made from a 5/8"x 3"plank which dosen't appear to be in my kit. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../omg_smile.gif I'll have to see if the LHS has some....Before this ring is to be installed I need to cap off the top area right behind the firewall. I am boxing the top and bottom in with some 3/32" Birch ply strengthening the firewall area. If you remember just underneath this ply cap are the throttle and choke servos which will need to be serviced should the need arise. The access opening that I made will have a removeable cover. This cover will also hold the ignition box for the DLE-20. To prove that the opening was big enough I installed the servos with thecap on as a trial run. Tight but doable.... Tomorrow I'll glue the cap in place.

I'm glad you think so. I found them a little short on detail. But then I was looking for something wrong anyway. Enjoy when you can.

Iwish I could trade places with him because I've had my life and his is just getting started to watch him have to deal with this just kills me.

Sorry to hear about your son. I wish him the best.
I know what you're going thru as well. My oldest son, who is currently in the Army, had an auto accident on base. He was a passenger and got thrown from the vehicle. He now has spinal damage as well. The pain, numbness in the legs, difficulty walking most of the time, etc.etc. I try to remind him when he gets bad off in the head that God promisses a great life,just not in this one. Hold to his faith and do the best he can. And pray daily.
As you I would trade with him in a heartbeat so he could live life.
This is something I would not wish on my worst enemy. Much less a youngster.
And now that you mentioned it, yes, this is about the most civil thread I have seen as well. I guess we know where all the smart guy's are. LOL

I totally agree with you raptureboy.  These are the best bunch of guys I've... uh... not yet met myself.  And that's on my bucket list.  When (or if) I get out of debt and have enough money, I want to travel around and meet as many of you guys as I can!  Maybe we should plan a meeting at a fly-in someplace... some time...

Sorry to here about your son!  Terrible thing to have to go through!  And at the age of 22!  I guess God has his reasons for all this, just can't figure them out sometimes.  I for one will put him on my prayer list.

I am getting close to the end on my Wedell-Williams Model 44. It's a short kit by Jim Young. I'm down to the fiddly-bits, getting the control surface connections made, aileron servo hatches drilled and screwed on, etc. Then it'll be sand/fill/sand/fill/sand etc, and I'll cover it with Ultracote.

Hey hereis a place that has a great funfly for any size plane of the golden age of flight. I have gone 2 years now and it's a really laid back 3 days of flying and also lots of restoredfull scale aircraft to get your creative juices flowing. Thanks for the compliments, it's been a lot of fun to build.

Raptureboy, it is electric. I just jumped into the hobby this year and went the electron route so that's the infrastructure I have and I like convenience. No stalls, no messing with fuel/air mixtures at the field, no fuel proofing, etc. I do plan on using plastic. I'm learning fabric would be more scale, but that's another skill and another set of tools that I just don't have yet. I'm about broke just getting set up to cut and glue wood.

Vin, I truly appreciate the offer. It sounds like Solartex applies like - if not more easily than - a plastic covering.It's the painting part that I'm short on know how and tools. I do think my next build will require painting, so I'll have lots of questions soon enough. Also, how easily is Solartex repaired? My flying skills make patching a regular occurence.

It is actually a little tougher than film material and comes in colors so you don't have to paint. If you do punch a hole it it patchs just like film covering. you can order it here www.balsausa.com it also requires lower heat to apply. No pressure Tim, when you're ready, the offer will still be there for you. If and when you ever decide to give Solartex a try you won't have to buy it like most have to (balsausa.com) because our LHS carries it in stock. Sorry guys, we happen to have a great local hobby shop here...just a heads up it ain't cheap!

When I'm ready for covering (soon I hope) I will be sure to include lotsof photos if you guys want...
