No David not a one! I was a bit worried because it would have beenhard to sand around all those rivets.

Good points about the title of the plastic parts redo, Dave and Robert. Admittedly, I'm a better builder than flyer, and apparently poster:D
VJ, That looks so beautiful!
I resemble this comment! :D

VJ, I'm turning green as we speak!

Thanks all for the kind words, and thanks for continuing following this thread.

Looking forward to getting the fuse together. I would like to have this completed before I start to work on the wing...When you use epoxy paint full cure called sword hardnesscomes in about 4-7 days according to the manufacturer.

Anthony you are really going to like this paint!

Absolutely wonderfull Vincent. And like others here "I hate to get the runs as well!"
I may have to give that KK a go on my next build.

Nice work, Vincent !

The paint really brings out the detail !

Thanks Tom, dropping the air pressure a bit helped get a better spray pattern.

I'm glad that it worked !

The more we do this stuff, the more we learn. When we share our knowledge with others, it shortens the learning curve.

Vin,

Plane looks great. I love the rivet job you did. Paint looks great too. I didn't read thru all 47 pages of this thread, but what are you going to use to power this little gem?

Dan

The epoxy has dried enough for me to start to assemble the fuse. All of the contol surfaces have been epoxied in place. I left the gaps wider that I would normally do as all Ryans have very large contol surface gaps. Here is what it looks like...I tried to show how the details have really popped through the paint as I hoped it would.

While I realize that this is scale, big hinge gaps fly poorly. For flying it, you can seal the gaps with "Blenderm" tape available at CVS, Walgreens etc, and peel it off for display.

RE: Sig Ryan STA

That is just sweet Vincent. Those details do make a big difference in the finished product. Beautiful!!</p>

VincentJ 02-27-2013 06:07 AM

RE: Sig Ryan STA

You are right Gary, and I went back and forth in my head if I should have narrower gaps but alas scale won out over better function. Thanks for the tip I will try it.</p>

Wow!  You do not disappoint, VJ!  When I grow up I want to build like you!  Such precision, and all that detail work is really paying off!<div>
</div><div>The only complaint I have is while I was staring at your work, the red made my eyes go wacko.  Took a while for them to readjust.  Next time I'll try this...[8D]</div>

RE: Sig Ryan STA

All of us 3D maniacs use the Blenderm even with tight gaps.  It really makes a difference.  <div>

In addition to epoxying the rudder in place I installed the tail flying wires, charge jack, rudder and elevator servos as well as getting the linkages operational. In another day or two I will start to mask the fuse for its white accent/trim color.

The flying wires were made from 2-56 rod that I attatched with standard clevis'.I didnot use the flat steel wire supplied in the kit. Havingone end of the 2-56 rod threaded, I can easily make adjustments to the flying wires shouldthey need it in the future.I need to get the tank as well as the throttle and choke servos installed next.

acerc 02-27-2013 02:40 PM

RE: Sig Ryan STA

Those wires really add some pop to the tail. Nice!
Question? Have you ever tried the Dubro rod ends?

VincentJ 02-27-2013 02:49 PM

RE: Sig Ryan STA

Not sure what you mean Robert, are you talking about the ones they make for 4-40 rod?

acerc 02-27-2013 03:06 PM

RE: Sig Ryan STA

Uh-uh. Yea, open mouth insert foot. I know your useing 2-56, my bad.

Looking awesome!

I wouldn't worry about the gap. My Cub has pretty wide gaps, as is scale, and it flys perfect. It isn't a 3D ship so you dont need every bit of authority with the tail.
