RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
Hi everyone,
At the risk of sounding like an ignoramus, what does "C/W" stand for in the title? Thanks, Bob |

ORIGINAL: VincentJ Bonus photos. A little premature to put on the legs but I''ve been waiting a long time! Jkr- hate it when I run out of supplies and have to stop. My god that Robart Gear looks like a million bucks. What a sweet setup. |

They are nice jkr, and very functional more importantly.
I decided this morning to install the rear formers (F8 - F13) to rear main frame. Plans and instructions indicate that these formers be installed straight up and down not installed 90 degrees to the main frame (a mistake that can easily be done). After some thought about how I would go about ensuring that the formerswould mount correctly I decided the best thing to do was to make a simple jig that had 5 degrees offset. It worked super.I glued the formers withwood glue andthinCA. Also worth noting: I found that formers F12 and F13 which were die cut were badly damaged from the die not being sharp. It more or less crushed the balsa instead of cutting it. Wasn't a big deal to make new ones since I had the right thickness balsa sheeting on hand. |

RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
Yes sir. This time tomorrow I'll either be a happy camper or a sad sack. Either way I'll post the video as soon as it's done.
The exterior is complete except for the bungee cover's. The interior has had one coat of latex, gonna need another before finishing up. Vincent, look's like your coming along well. Thank's for the photo's. |
RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
Yeah, looks good VJ! Wished I'd have thought of some of those tricks. Eh, live and learn I guess.<div>

Okay, here's a start. I haven't taken any real progress photos lately, it's been kind of slow going. Money has been a big issue lately. Anyone else have that problem?http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...used_smile.gif
Here ya go! |
RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
Ok I'm a happy camper. Got the maiden in. Alway's nerve racking, especially when the engine stall's just a couple minute's in flight. Serve's me right for not tuning the engine. LOL
Seriously, other than a minute at the house I haven't tuned the thing. With a new modified pipe and no final tuning what's one to expect. She took off well needed very little trim adjustment's. One thing I did in the build was to add a littlemore incedence to the stab. Worked out great. The stab and elevator are flush and it's flying level. Anyway's, as soon as my friend has the video ready I'll post it. Till then here's a shot of the plane and myself. Well back to work. |
RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
CFF- Very nicework http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/thumbup.gif. Hear you about the money. Shame so close, you need to finish it. Thanks for the picture.

|
RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
Thanks VJ. Still learning. I am working on some of the detail stuff, the things that don't take much money. I'm trying to do a little scale work on the cowl, with Roberts help, as well as the door. Eh, little by little. Maybe in a year or two I'll have it finished. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../sad_smile.gif
Take care, David<br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
Really nice Robert! I really like that dummy engine. I've got to do that on mine. Wish I hadn't bought the built in dummy engine on my cowl. Oh well, I'll have to fix that.<div>
</div><div>One more thing, VIDEO, VIDEO, VIDEO..... :D</div><div> </div><div>Take care,</div><div>David</div> |

RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
Thank's everyone. Still a lot of detail's to put in but will get there. Hopefully have all done by this weekend. Video is coming. Probably late this evening.

Also, I found that my vent line for the fuel tank had laid against the muffler and melted into a solid not allowing air into the tank. That's why it stalled.
