Coming right along Vincent. Nicely. I personally did not have a bad experience with the windshield.
By the way, you guy's are welcome to view and comment on the IKON N' West cub I'm building. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11...m.htm#11083562

Nice job on the windshield. I just finished fitting the windshield on my 1/4 scale SIG Cub. I considered reinforcing the edge under the mounting screws as you have. What material did you use?

Rick I used some 1/4" brass stock from K&S. I originally just used canopy glue and quickly found out that after it dried it didn't hold after the clamps were released so I drilled holes 1 inch apart and used some servo screws. The brass spreads the load out more evenly. Just be mindfull of the piano wire that is hidden below.

With the tension on the plastic with it bent to fit the curve, I decided that the canopy glue probably wouldn't suffice. I went with the button head #2 bolts with a bonded washer after first trying some screws. I don't have any piano wire in the frame (only near the bottom where it meets the side of the fuse) so I am able to apply a nut on the inside. Mine are spaced at about an inch also, so the plastic stays pretty flat. However, I'm afraid it might start to bulge out between the bolts over time. That's why I was considering a fix such as yours.

As you mentioned, getting a good fit was a real challenge. And with that you did a great job. The fit, especially around the compound curve of the wing extension leading edge, is perfect. I've got some minor gaps there but after all the trimming and adjusting I'll very happily live with the gaps. <G> I used their edge trim also. Mine is from Fourmost. I also used their window flange to fit each side window individually rather than use a solid piece to cover them all at once externally. It was more work, but it turned out nice.

<span style="font-size: larger">Have any pictures Rick? By using the brass plate you will avoid the bulging between each button head screw for sure</span>.

I'll take some pics tomorrow at the shop and then try to figure out how to post them here. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Here are some shots of the inside. The IBEC is visable just ahead of the receiver on the left hand side. The IBEC as well as receiver were attatched with hook and loop tape to make removal easier should the need arise. To the right of the battery you will see the ON-OFF/charge switch and directly ahead of it is the LED for the IBEC which is a very bright green lightindicating that the ignition is hot. The Gear switch on my transmitter is the kill switch for the ignition. The green tape on the wires going to the receiver will be replaced with labeling tape (as soon as I get more tape for the label maker http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...what_smile.gif The remote (2nd) receiver will be permanently mounted on the middle top rear former,I will need to get a longer extension for that to happen.

Well I had some energy left in me so I completed one window panel. Used a product by Fourmost called "U" channel. Worked real nice. I got the idea from SDP, I liked how he insalled his windows on his Cub so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did.

Tonight I tackled how I was going to handle the aileron hook-up. Every time Iput on a wingI always am paranoid that I'm accidently hooking up the aileron connections in reverse (even though they are labeled). So this is how I handled the situation to get rid of my paranoia.... I went to the LHS and picked-up some Ernst Charge Receptacles and mounted them to the former. Pics show it would be impossible to get them reversed now. OK time to mount more windows, so back in the shop I go.

Know what ya mean there VJ. On the IKON I'm doing something a bit different. Going to use serial plug's so the wing's will be plug and play. I'll post here when I get there if you'd like.

I've had the idea for a few year's just never tried it till now. I really like it and will probably use it more often. It was much easier than I thought it would be.

Today I hung the hinges for the window. I did have to make an adjustment that will require me to do a little "touch-up" with some white paint. Works great, now I need to make a door handle.... Everything on the inside is done with the exception of labeling the receiver connections. I relocated the secondary receiver behind the former.</p>

RH, what exhaust is on your engine? is that an OS 120 engine? i'm curious on how you did your fuel lines and what you have connected.

the trim you guys have looks great.

RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build

It will be readyAnthony but I'll probably break the engine in this weekend and take it to a larger more open field than what my club has next week for its maiden. I will take some finished photos of the Cub all cleaned up outsideand post it by Saturday, but unfortunatly I will not have acess to a camera next week for its maiden http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../sad_smile.gif.

You have a cell phone, anyone at the field have a cell phone. No camera is no excuse.  LOL:D
