Don't Know if this counts. But this was, are is, a Goldberg Sr.falcon. Although I kitted it myself from plans The only deviation form the original lines [ except for the obvious ] Is the nose and I added more rudder area.

Here is another pic. Two ASPs .32 for power. Plenty of thrust but would be really "hot" with a couple of .40s

Nice port and starboard deflectors, dalolyn!

Herr Pitts Special - build with bolt-on wings vs rubber band.

Sig Somethin' Extra - replaced cheeks with cowl, built up front end(doesn't taper), sheeted turtle deck, added 1.25" to rudder and .25" to ailerons and elevator.

Great pictures guys!!! I Love that twin rendition. I can picture two rear exhaust 45s on that thing :D
Your Pitts looks a lot bigger than it is SomeGeek and I love your SE. Abosultely finished beautiful (from other posts I've seen) at first I thought your gear was a polished aftermarket product! Nice.
Keep 'um comming

I cannot seem to build a kit without changing things either. Here's a few of my most recent bashes over winter....

1) Herr Piper Cherokee- converted to Electric, added ailerorns, converted to bolt-on wing, and re-shaped tail to more resemble the Piper Arrow.

2) Midwest TriSquire- Converted to Electric, Increased elevator size, Perm. mounted horiz. stab and filled in underneath, fuse mods to lighten and get rid of old-time galloping ghost accomodations, micro servos, steerable nosewheel, converted to bolt-on wing, added louvered vents for ESC and motor cooling, and removable balsa cowl held in place by magnets.

3) Four Star 40 (currently finishing) Moved cockpit area forward about 3", Raised and sheeted turttledeck, Raised dash and front sheeting, room to install scale inst panel, trimmed canopy, Perm. balsa cowl around Saito 56, Reshaped tail feathers, larger control surfaces, Sullivan tailwheel, dual aileron servos (to mix flapperons), clipped wings one bay and added rounded tips, and added structural doublers where needed.

edit: pics added
Second post on page 2 for final list of mods and pics of 4 star.

Jeez, acs guitars- is that a bush piper cherokee? Lol, I see that all the time up here in AK.

Well, if a "blew up a set of .40 sized plans to full scale, re-engineered the formers, converted to foam wings, and then 'scratch built'" counts as "kit-bashing" :

The color scheme was actually taken from a pic of a real one that I believe was registered in AK.... I changed the scheme from blue to red is the only thing I modified. It was a nice clean layout to begin with.

Here is my Slow Poke That I'm in the process off bashing for a build of on another forum. Extended the rons one bay. Inverted the engine. and added a bomb drop for foam cup flour bombs. She will get retracts and the rest, well, look at the pics.

Kbear,
I think you and i are building almost the same airplane. I'm bashing a slow poke to look like a p-51B. I'm at work and don't have my camera, but i will post some pics when i get home tonight. Mine has modified tail feather shaping, retracts, and carries 4 dropable bombs. I started covering it last fri. It's gonna get the old crow mustang markings, AKA "SLOW CROW"!

Well I have a Planned Kit Bash for a Goldberg Falcon III kit I have on the shelf.
The plan was to turn it into a Skylark.. or maybe a Mid Wing if I cut new fully symmetrical ribs.

Mine are minor changes compared to these.
The ailerons on the Uproar are cur at simple 45 degree angles versus the sharp taper specified on the plans.
The PT-60 has no dihedral, tail dragger, dual aileron servos, and reshaped fin/rudder.

sscherin 03-18-2008 03:18 PM

RE: Kit Bashing... Lets See Watcha Got

Oh yeah I forgot my Midwest Sweet Stick..
Recovered and bashed last year.. plane is 20 years old.

Enlarged Ailerons 1" and reversed the taper.
Enlarged the elevator 1" and added counter balance
Enlarged the Rudder and extended down to elevator.
Also added counter balance.
Converted to Tail dragger
Added dual Aileron servos and wiring tubes in the wing.

It will KE but it's got a lot of roll coupling.

Here is my bashed Twin-Air 45 in the bones.
I am just starting to cover this plane.
I liked the lines of the Ultra Sport so I made it resemble it.

well i guess i got a little lost in the plans for my three channel Kadet...and had to buy a 9 channel radio and mix and couple channels to be able to use all the fun buttons...you will see the first change was tri gear to tail dragger, then add cut the streight wing for barn door ailerons...add the three light systems, with stearable nose lights..light up the insturment panel and cockpit...redesign all the tail feathers ,make a bombbay box inside the fuse ..add the extrernal bombs ,carve out a wooden cowling ...add a side door to hide all the on-off swithces and charging jacks ....make Barbies head turn and sew a lacy red bra for her, as you can not find lingerie for Barbie any more ..invert the engine ...find a set of wheel pants to have that 1930's look...make a momemade saddle for the night glider ...and well needless to say ...room for all 12 servos.....shew glad it is done and flying...next kit.....hummmmmmmm

That is a GREAT Goldberg Sr. Falcon!!!!:D

I keep thinking I should do a biplane some day, but that looks like a LOT of fun...

OK here are some photos of my last "bash"...

I picked up the Krafty 60 on sale at a local hobby store.. Well, not local to me, but I could not pass up a good deal..

After a couple of years, in the box it was time to build.. But I already have a Kadet MKII for a high-wing plane.. Soooo, you take the Krafty and make it a Low-wing with RETRACTS and FLAPS!!! Oh, and set it up ready for Floats also:)... It is really nice, retract the gear, keep them un-plugged put some of the "foamy glider" colored tape over the wheel wells and off to the lake...
Oh, BTW, I did not turn the fuselage over.. I kept the tail fins on top like planned, removed the cabin and cut the wing saddle into the bottom of the fuselage.. She tracks very straight...
