Sorry to hear that man. I would call Bill and let him know about your situation. Losi had to have released some bad batches with these diff cases. Some people are having problems and some are not. Or some of us will eventually have problems. Your 3 out of 3 is telling us that there's definitly a problem that needs to be addressed.

I called Bill - He stated that was weird and is sending me 3 new cases - Problem is, they will be exactly the same as the ones that broke - Don't get me wrong - Losi's support is top notch - the solution however??? They should replace free of charge with the aluminum cases to make things right

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately im the only one with that problem. Im sure you read that. I guess you have the limited edition ThermalRD 3 piece diff case. Atleast he's sending you cases. Did you mention to him that it wears down the ring and pinion badly?

Some thing i noticed with my lst, With the brakes on , try and turn the wheels. you can see the the Main chassis Plate flex up and down big time. where the diff case retainer grabs the chassis. if this is what is causing the diffs to crack, i can't see aluminum fixing the problem. the main chassis plate will still need Better support or strengthening. see what you think

Just curious but what are your serial numbers I have to here 001839 and another out in my car that is slightly. The 001839 borke the left rear black shaft. That axle is way to thin and the other has a broken lower A arm but that was my fault. So far my housings are fine but have back ordered four of the aluminum housings.
Serial numbers may help us find a batch problem?
Thanks Rich

Having seen ThermalRD's pics of the problem...I'd say alot of people are over looking the very small crack...
Since ThermalRd went cracked with 2 cases and now 2003vette has a 3 for 3...sounds like Losi needs to do some Mold changes (add bracing).
Also I do not feel Losi should be giving away free Alloy cases YET, but if they don't plan to at least look into the design then they might end up with a bunch of sour owners.
The Alloy case should not HAVE to be bought to fix the truck...it should be something some users can buy to make things better, not just work.

1) No I didn't have to send in the broken ones
2) I wouldn't care if they are alloy or not - just send some that work
3) serial numbers are 002175, 002546, 002430
Come on LOSI - someone must be seeing these posts.......

Well at least they are taking care of someone. They sure didnt care about sending me a ring and pinion. Then again, he didnt believe me about the stupid diff case either. I'll call them today, and see what he has to say about this now that its been a week or so. I also want to ask him about the updated chassis braces.

Just got off the phone with Bill. They (Losi) do not consider the diff case a "problem". They say the aluminum diff case was not designed to FIX a problem. It was designed to make the diff work better. Again, no replacements unless i send in the busted garbage. He did seem concerned about the trucks general issues (cvd's, clutch springs). Both are problems that should not happen. Neither of them are NEW technology. The problems there simply shouldnt exist. We shouldnt have to carry a damn box full of CVD's, and axles around. So i guess i'll take the garbage off the truck today, and send it first thing tomorrow. I guess it doesnt matter, the truck is down anyway. I did have a long talk with him about the CVD's. Supposedly the parts they designed, are not the same as what they were give on the truck. They are not happy about this at all. Neither am i, or any other owners. The problem they are having is production now. It could be another 3 weeks for the CVD's to get into production. Im thankful that Bill is willing to talk with people, and shows concern about the problems, but im back at square one again. I send them diff cases, i get more junk. CVD's?? Still junk. Still a shelf queen...

If you want a 'care package' to correct the defects, you're going to have to buy a Genesis. I think we're just going to see a running change in the part and we'll just have to buy the correct CVD's once we start spotting them on the shelf. Like the Adam Drake fuel tank, now in it's 3rd revision.

Ok dumbass im not bashing the Rapter.. Im stating the engines low quality.
If you wanna turn this into an arguement. My LST could roast your Rapter performance wise anyday.

Good. If the guys at Losi wont believe me, or the other users here, maybe they will believe XRC when they point it out.

XRC magazine noted a clicking in the test LST gears...probably another diff case cracked!

when you fully engage the brake sometimes you can hear a clicking or chattering sound... thats just the brake pads slapping around, but im not saying the diffs dont have a problem.. just that people that hear this noise shouldnt jump to the conclusion that its the diff going out! just check your diff case for cracks and the gears for wear if you have any doubts
