So I could have bought the pull start version and a separate tiger drive and save $40[
] And the losi roto won't even work? If jdmaxx is right about it spinning in the reverse direction the losi roto spins, I was just going to open up the losi roto and reverse the positive and negative wires on the engine to make it spin in reverse. But the hex shaft will be too small? Maybe the guys who make the tiger dr ive sell this shaft to use?

I could be wrong about the roto start on the novarossi but it looks like a tiger drive to me and I have one on my wasp and use the started motor I use on the Mach, now the Collara and the Cen are the same drive set up(not a tiger drive I don't know who makes this drive set up) and they run backwards. before I got the roto start for the Cen I did what you suggested I reversed the polarity on one of my losi starters and it worked fine

Ben,
What about the shaft that you used to start the tiger drive? I really don't have anything to "grind" a standard hex shaft. The losi shaft is too big?

nope it don't fit. later today I'll try to figure out the size and post it I'll take a pic of the stuff I used I thick I can duplicate the parts and give you a before and after pic. Now it's all heat shrinked together so you can't see the parts.

jdmax,
I bought an LST and had my engine blow up after a tank of fuel, I took it apart and sure enough the con rod was blown. I sent it back to Horizen and they took about three weeks to get it back to me. Since then, I have broken it in and run it on three different race days. Over all I have about a gallon or a bit more more run through it and all seems ok.
Sure, I was very disapointed that the I had a problem with the engine, but all is well now. So if I were you I would ship the engine directly to Horizen and have them fix it.
Regards,
Gary

ahhhh a thread that sheads a little light.
skyodyssey i had the same problem today. it tool me 1 year to finally fork over the money for a LST. this was after messing with a on road car that i only felt safe using on a race track. about 3.5 tanks into my normal motor break in procedure the motor quit on me and did not start up again. curiosity got the best of me i ended up pulling the head to find a piston that was pretty hbadly chewed up on both sides with metallic gunk everywhere. great looks like the pistons i pulled out of my blow motor on the real car. i have always used novarossi motors in my on road car and had nothing but good experiences with them.
my question is i do not feel like burying myself to bad by having to buy another motor. if i just sit and wait for the mach to come back from warranty. how reliable is it gonna be????
man o just bought this thing on friday on my lunch break. [

I mailed my engine to horizon on june 24th I got a brand new one back on the 8th of july, I still went and bought a back up engine so I could drive my LST while I was waiting for them to reply
here's what my con rod looked like, I took my engine apart to see what happened, but you should just send it back if your having problems.

After removing the exhaust from mach broken Mach, I seen allot of small silver shavings. Is it safe to use this on my new engine? Anything special I should do to clean out the exhaust? Also, should I keep the O-Ring? The end of it ripped a little bit when I removed the exhaust, should I replace it? Also, do I keep the carb or send it back with the mach as well?

Not sure if I missed other info, BUT I had my connecting rod break My truck was / is new. It seemed to take Horizon 3 weeks, and they just sent me a new motor. I did have to do some calling and I ended up talking to the bosses boss. I am sure this helped, and made some people mad. After I got the motor back it has been PERFECT. I also had to replace the stock plastic DIFF cases with aluminum ones. After that I broke shock shaft because I ran it into a metal post. At first I bough some RPM A arms and have not put them on yet, I am waiting on the stock A arms to break. Other than that it runs great. I felt the same way as u did about the LST and still do. It is a fun truck but maybe I should of bought something else?? Needless to say it has been fun and a great experience.

ben,
Thanks for the pic. I did some research myself and found that Sullivan makes a starter wand that fits on the shaft of the losi roto start....or any other shaft. It only cost me $10 at the LHS. Would have cost me more than that to buy the parts to make my own
The part # is S686. You can find it at tower hobbies http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=++&search3=Go
