I have the original M26 still in my truck. I can get it to start and idle with no problem. but when the throtle is opened some it pukes and dies. could this be a sign of a worn out engine. I am running my 8th gallon right now. I've never really had this problem before.

When the engine is cold (glow plug in and seated), reach under the chassis and try turning the flywheel a complete rotation with one finger. If it will turn completely through the rotation with little effort, your piston/sleeve has lost its pinch and is in need of replacement. If it still gives quite a bit of resistance, you're probably looking at a different problem.
My guess, with 8 gallons on it...is that it's time for a rebuild. That's a "general" life expectancy for a big block that's been tuned right and taken care of.
If you do opt for a rebuild, check for slop in the bushings of the conrod. Take into account not only the price of a new piston/sleeve, but the conrod as well. If you have to replace all three, sometimes it's just a little more $$ for a entirely new engine.

If your motor still has compression check for leaks in the tank or in the fuel tubing because it causes the same problem you describe as well just change the lines it's cheap fix if that's the problem

PROBLEM SOLVED!! The high speed needle is leaning its self in while it is running. I turns in so far that when I open the throttle it sucks itself dry and dies. Can I replace the o ring or do I have to buy a new needle?

You may have luck finding a replacement O-ring at your hardware store or LHS (probably cheaper than buying the entire kit).
