I've been having problems with my LRP 28 spec3 ever since getting it, which is frustrating as I know it's one; if not the best 28 engine money can buy "When running"!!!
My local model shop diagnosed problem as worn piston sleeve due to lack of compression, engine would run but almost impossible to tune, when it got to optimal running temp it would cut out and refuse to start. Brought new piston and sleeve which to be fare was much tighter than the one it replaced but now engine just won't start, everything is in the way it should be sleeve matches up with notch on barrel etc, needles on factory settings.
Engine floods and blows fuel back through carb, tried leaning of fuel to stop flooding but still doesn't start????
Engine has new LRP35060 Standard R6 Cold glow plug
Air filter is clean
No aor leaks
Running on blue thunder 25%
Can anyone please help????

Let's assume you put the engine back together properly. 1)Check fuel lines, tank and muffler. Make sure there are no obstructions and that they are connected properly. If, for example, you left a plug in the muffler exhaust pipe you would get the symptoms you describe. 2)Check your ignitor...is it lighting the glow plug bright orange?
OK. On to more drastic measures...
3)Disconnect fuel line and shoot some starter fluid (ether) into the carb....then try to fire it. It should start popping. If not, take it apart and rebuild it again, something is wrong. If yes, connect fuel line, bring the fuel up to the carb, but do not prime. Give it another spray of starter fluid and fire it up. If it floods, check your needles, especially the low end.
If you still can't get it to start, get someone to help you.

Usually things like this are simple - dead battery in the glow ignitor, bad plug out of the package etc. But, if you are seriously flooding the engine, even after leaning out the LSN/HSN then I would look for a torn o-ring on one of the needles.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all your help and suggestions regards engine not running, however I decided in the end to leave it in the hands of my local model shop who have worked there magic got it running and broke in new piston/sleeve and tuned it for me all for the meesley price of £10 , shall pick it up beginning of week and will let you know what the problem was as soon as I’ve been told, once again big thanks......

Blue thunder isn't crap. I've used it on all my nitros for almost a year, and for about 4 gallons so far on my mach 427, and theres nothing wrong w/ it. It runs great, makes good power, and is realitively easy to tune w/. I know it's not the best fuel, but it works great for me

Hi Bigairlife
Yeah my bro uses Bluethunder in his mach27 with no problems at all and when i used it in mine everything was cool, however when i upgraded to the LRP I’ve had countless tuning problems whether this was fuel related or my lack of knowledge as very new to nitro i don't know but I suppose there's no harm in trying something new as I’m out of Bluethunder...
Can fuel behave different in different engines????
What in your opinion is the best fuel????

well, i used blue thunder in like 4 vehicles, and to me it was terrible compared to trinity. the trinity holds a tune better, is easier to tune, much better performance all around. my lst2 never ran better.
