Hi guys, I've run into a bit of a problem with my ESM Stuka radio equipment that I'm hoping to get some help with.
I'm using a Futaba 7C transmitter with a Futaba 617FS receiver. I am using two NiMH 2000 MaH packs for the receiver, each one on a separate HD switch. I am running battery #1 into channel 7 with a Y harness to the electric siren that I've set up. I'm running battery #2 into channel 5 with a Y harness to the choke servo for my DLE 30.
The problem is that the choke servo will not operate with the battery plugged in to the other side of the Y harness. As soon as I unplug the battery from the Y, the servo functions fine. I have changed receivers and the problem remains. I have changed the servo and the problem remains. This setup is functioning fine on my CMP Bf-109. I'm at the end of my knowledge rope. Are there any settings in the radio that I have possibly screwed up?

What you're doing is pretty routine setup often used to provide direct current to the hungry high torque servos, usually the rudder servo in a 3D plane.
I agree the problem is defective Y harness.

Forgot to mention, I also swapped the Y-harness and the problem remains. The only thing I haven't swapped is the switch. I'm going to swap that tonight and see what happens. This is quite puzzling.

Problem solved, somehow the switch is preventing the servo from moving. Not exactly sure how, as the receiver is powered up fine and there are no other problems. I'm going to throw a Fluke meter on it and see what shakes out.

hi, I know with a similar setup for an undercarriage they say the red wire coming out of the Rx on the "Y" lead has to be cut, that way the separate battery has to power your siren.
cheers, Oldtimer.

Hey Alan, speaking of Stukas, do you happen to stock any spare wheel pants? A few of us are looking for them since they crack so easily.

i think there may be stock of the spats, but post to the U.S. would be mental, spares for all the models are available, spares stock is up to the importer, but bigger items would have to be ordered, problem with spares are, you end up with lots of expensive bits you cannot sell, YT has lots of parts, cowls, canopys, decks, etc etc, that have cost a fortune, and are obsolete, its not always easy to stock lots of parts, to my knowledge, we have never been asked for the pants off the stuka, mine are still in good condition, but, i must admit, i did line them out with glass tape,on the front bulbous part as i do with every type of spat from any model from any maker i have known, just simply stippled in with epoxy, uses no weight, and adds strength, and takes 20 minutes,

Briefly back to the original topic, it looks like the brand of switch I am using (EMS) is causing the issue. I have had good luck with these switches in the past but haven't used them in this capacity yet. I've tried three different switches and they all freeze up the servo after about a day or so of use. I grabbed another brand and it looks like the problem is solved permanently.
