Hey FB,

Just got the weight the F-14:

40.66lb includes everything except:
pipes 1.28lb x 2
turbines k170   3.5 x 2
3 servos 8411
battery for turbine  2.7
fuel
pilots

i'm guessing total dry weight to be around 50lb

All the wires and airlines are installed with all valves and cockpit

Yelp your right simple fix thanks. When gear is up you can rotate the wheel if the servo is not install.
Yep, did that one my SM a few times!
Ready for maiden soon??

I would just use programmable mixing, with master and slaves, plus you can add conditions if its something you would like to turn on and off. I dont think there is a default servo setup you can choose but check those as well.

Yeah I had it ready to go and then I decided to convert gear, now I just have to run a few more servo extension and change some airline connections since I removed part of the air system. I'm also going drill my servo horns while its apart, I have my end points all the way down and still more throw than needed. I will drill and tap new holes closer in on the servo arm so I can increase the end points. The way it is would work but kills the resolution on the servo. SWBs are really more for 3D planes, wish I would have went with just a regular metal servo arms from JR or something. [&:] oh well lesson learned for next jet.

Okay got the gear in and leads ran, added the up6 brake valve to my front board with a small HS-81 servo. The instruction say you only need 26 oz of torque for full pressure. the HS-81 does 36, and 46 on 6 volts. I also have the location of the DNL control box and the 7.4 volt ION for the gear.
I put the brake control on a side slider (right side) on my 14mz since its perfect for sliding in more pressure without getting in the way of your nose wheel controlling.

I'm a big fan of brakes on slider. Right slider= brakes, left slider=smoke. Really makes it easy. Good call.

Yeah because when your on the ground the right stick is not in play so this your left stick that's getting all action is not effected.

that really depends on the jet, your 16 if you don't fly the ailerons on the ground till she slows down you can drag a wing tip in a heartbeat.

Hi,

I've had bad experiences with the UP-6 and servos that small. You might want to consider an HS-225.

I thought of this since its such a drain on the servo at full brake. I will see how it goes I don't really need full lock at about half throw with min required torque the wheels are really tight. If it burns up the servo I will know, plus im running. Volts for the extra punch, not to mention im only applying brakes for short burst.

FB,
An 8411 is your best bet for the UP-6 since it is proportional. The final part of the plunger arm is fairly heavy for a small servo. I have burned out 368's, 821's and 2721's...but finally found the 8411 is a winner.

Yep,

I've burned out mini's (the 81 is a mirco) on the UP-6, especially when you're using a slider. It didn't take long either...

You might actually also find that the way you intend to fly and stop is very different from when your jet is actually barreling past at 100 mph and you try and stop.[&:]

Well everything is back together did a test run on time for gear cycle. It takes 10 seconds for gear to go up and 11 secs for gear down. Not bad at all and thats on 7.4 volts so if you opt for lower voltage your cycle time will increase.

What are you gonna do if you have to make an emergency landing of some kind other than the runway and have to get the gear up FAST. Oops, there goes the retracts. 10 seconds is a lot of time.

if I have to land any place other than the runway the gear would be up, since the only time its down is for landing on the runway. The time it took with door sequencing and gear down was only 3 sec less with air system. I think its plenty of time since it only takes about 5 secs to get the gear inside the jet the rest is just pushing it into the final lock pos. I know the pros and cons and I still plan on putting electric on all my future jets, my choice and Im happy with it.

Anyway, uploading a video showing the gear/doors working and a little better view of the locking of the canopy with the button valve.
