Default Need help with Kingtech K140F on Diesel

Hi,

I did a short video of my bench test for a K140F operating on Diesel.

During the initial startup, I encountered a lot of flames during "Switch Over" and "Fuel Ramp" stages, with "pump PW ignition" at 017 and "engine min flow" at 22%.

For the second start, I changed "pump PW ignition" to 016 and "engine min flow" to 20%. The short video shows the results. Less flames encountered during "Switch Over" (at 26sec mark of video), which is an improvement, but I still get a lot of orange flames during "Fuel Ramp" stage (39s onwards).

Can someone help to explain which parameter influence fuel ramp stage and if I can do more changes to my ECU settings to lessen the flames I am currently encountering during start up?

Thanks.

Isaac

Thank you all for your comments. I look forward to mounting the engine in a plane I am building...

FenderBean: I am using a 3S (9.9V) 2100mAh LiFe pack.

cool deal the 9.9 is a must for diesel, enjoy it did you happen to run it on kero before? If so let me know if you get any more power with diesel, should be a little more push with diesel. [X(]

Hmmm probably your altitude but who knows, you would think it would increased more at full. I will have to give mine a check at sea level see how the numbers compare. Thanks for the info

I had 4 out of 4 successful starts so far on the K140F, but they were all on Diesel.

Btw, my location is at sea level. Unfortunately, I do not have the necessary tools to measure the thrust level.

Hello Everyone,

I decided to place my question on this forum in regards to my kingtech 170 as I just switched to diesel from Jet A

I cant get my k170 start. More so, I shut it down during preheat stage due to a long and slowly preheat stage that by the time it reaches around 40C-50c its already dripping fuel out the back of the engine and to avoid a fire i shut it down (This is with the kingtech diesel settings right out of the manual).

I'm an experienced pilot but don't know much about turbines, although I loved the way my 170 worked on Jet-A but even then it did always take a few minutes to start.

Is there a way of speeding up preheat stage? to avoid the long wait that leads to the fuel coming out of the aft of the engine?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
