Default Tmaxx wheels for my cen have arrived

ok, my imex roulins, ofna brick pins and cen-tmaxx adapters have arrived. just need to get the wishbones and driveshafts for the mt conversion, they will be here shortly.

how much bigger are the tmaxx wheels?!?!?! hell, i hope this is all gonna work ok....

im hoping to use my escudo shell, for showing off if nothing else, but if anyone else out there has fitted these adapters and wheels, could u advise me as to what u have done with regards to a shell - will a 1/10 mt shell work?

Poor judgement... Let me know how this works out... I want to use Maxx sixe wheels for my mt2.... The 2.2 size is a little small for my liking when running pin( pro-line holeshot ) wheels.... I would try to make the adapter but not sure of the offset problems... Please let me know? thanks.........RICH

i will be posting updates as i make progress... does anyone have any pics of renegades mt2r, i cant find any, and now they have stopped trading im strugglin to get anymore info. i would like to know what shell they used, and how they fixed the wheels, whether they just used washers under the usual nuts, or if there are larger flanged m3 nuts available - larger flanges would be preferable. this is due to the 14-17mm adapter included with the wheels, and therefore the larger hole thru the wheel centre.

the offset of the imex romulins is supposed to be spot on for the cen mt2/st2, u might be able to see what i mean in the pics, but it is a little hard to tell from pics...

hope the pics help u see what i mean.

oh btw - these wheels have come off the actual renegade prototype, so there shouldnt be any probs with them at in regards to off set or clearance on a standard body - its just a case of finding out which body, as my escudo isnt ideal for bashing or racing, and i suspect i will have to cut a hell of a lot out of the arches to get the steering to clear the body at full lock etc

the wheels, tyres and 14mm cen hexes came from renegade rc in the states. they were nice and cheap as they have just been bought out. as stated above the wheels came from renegades project cen mt. the romulins come with a 14-17mm adapter, or at least they are advertised as such [link=http://www.imexrc.com/TEMAXX_RIMS_NEW.htm]here[/link]. hexes used to be available [link=http://www.renegaderc.com/shop.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RRC&Product_Code=RC P1002]here[/link]

keep ur eyes open on e bay for any more hexes and the romulins.

searching this forum would have given u all the info and a whole lot more tho...

The Imex Romulins that I purchased states that the "adapter requires washer 5/32 hole x 7/8 NOT INCLUDED" underneath the barcode.
I haven't put these on my CEN becuase I decided to use them on my X-Factor instead.
I think that there used to be pics on the old Wildhobbies archived forum but I don't think that is available anymore.
The Schlesser rally body has pretty big wheel wells and might work ok with the T-maxx wheels as well as the Mt2 truck body.
The JT chassis is longer (if that is the chassis that you will be using) and the front of the wheel wells will need trimming, mine did with the stock truck wheels. Wait until you get the correct arms before you decide to start cutting because the trucks are quite a bit wider than the rally's.

thanks for that rolland, washers it is then.

like u say tho, theres not much i can do til i get them mounted and see how they fit.

i will probably try them on my spare cen chassis with the centre diff first, just because that one is the most complete at the mo, and im getting sick of swapping bits round!

Thanks for the info on the adapters I will order some when the checkout is working. I am not sure if I will use them but I suppose that it is better to have them than wish that I had them.

The stock MT2 tires are 136 mm tall and the wheel has about an half inch backspace. The Romulins have no backspace (or very little) so if you use a tire that isn't much taller you might not have very many clearance issues.
If you look at ndeepoffroad's MT2 with the swamp dawgs on it, it looks like the clearance isn't a problem and not much will have to be trimmed.

Rolland:

u might be better off using the contact us button to get the hexes then, as i believe renegade may have officially stopped trading now. I got mine thru e bay, not from the website.

the romulins are listed as having a 1/4" offset and the brick pin tyres i have are 140mm diameter, and 80mm wide - just for ur information...

The shoppping cart and checkout are working now but Paypal is down for maintenance. Maybe I will have better luck tomorrow. If not then I will email them.

Those tires are not much taller or wider than the stock ones so you may not have any clearance problems with the 1/4 inch offset.

Forgive my newbie question,

What makes these adapters any different than other adapters that are out there? No one else's 14MM hexes will work with the CEN axle?

I was curious about the new megatech10mm wide hexes for T-maxx wheels -

the cen has comparatively skinny axles, therefore hexes designed for other trucks tend to have too large a hole thru them, this can lead to probs thru the hex not centring properly on the driveshaft, which in turn can cause damage further down the drivetrain.

i have heard of people using the tmaxx hexes on the cen, and getting away with it, im a bit dubious as to the long term effects of that on the drivetrain tho. u pays yer money and takes yer chance i guess... i just didnt want to recommend anything to others that might not work out right. especially those of us who have bigger/pokier engines and are having enough problems with the extra power as it is.

hope that makes sense

oh nearly forgot - those hexes u linked to will have a too large a hole for an ideal fit on a cen, also u may have probs with the pins not fitting in the axles - not sure on that point tho. what u will definately have probs with is the 10mm thickness of them - this will leave only a few threads to get ur wheel nut onto, and it certainly wont locate the threads on the nylon part of the nut.

the cen driveshafts are the biggest prob with mounting tmaxx wheels, as the shafts are so skinny. i have been trying to get some info on [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGPE8&P=7]these[/link] shafts, if i could get some dimensions of the shaft i could see if they would fit the cen - its gonna be close - these would allow a thicker stub shaft to be used, which would in turn open up other hex options. i will post my findings on here if anything comes of it.

shocks arrived today along with an ofna ultra lx reciever box. the shocks are great, glad i didnt go for the rear ones, these measure 105mm across the hole centres at each end. they are front shocks from the ultra lx also.

they embarrass the cen shocks somewhat in their quality...

PJ, have a look on the Titanium Racing website. A guy contacted them a while ago asking about getting some made for his FF. They replied by saying if he wanted to send a sample of CENs' driveshaft, they would be able to make them for him. They must have worked pretty well because the same bloke went on to decimate the BRCA 1:10 truck 4wd class racing under the name Quando. If yoo have no joy with the HPI shafts it may be worth a go. This is their web address http://nt4870.vs.netbenefit.co.uk/index.asp Hope this is of some use.

If you go to their site, the enquiry is in the 'lounge' section, product enquiries and include old posts. By the way those Ofna shock look the business. Cant wait to see them fitted.

Cheers for that mate, i just sent them a message. thats quite a funky little site they have there! i will let u know what they say etc.

aye - those shocks do look pretty nice, not bad for £30 with the reciever box and postage from the US. they are next to my rally shocks, if anyone was wondering why they look so much longer.

i caught the copper spur gear in that pic too that someone was askin about the other day - its in the top left corner of the pic - it needs some work on it to make it a good bit lighter before i try it out tho.

oh the reciever box is erm, somewhat on the large side for the ff chassis - doh, oh well if u dont try u dont find out - only cost me a couple of quid tho...

i just threw it on the truck on my desk so u can see what i mean.

I bought some wheels and tires for my MT2 and I bought some plastic TMaxx hexes and they work good. I just keep em tight and I had to get a different nut to hold them on that was shorter and would thread up farther allowing the locking plastic to get to the threads.

Of course I cant leave well enough alone...I had to cut the Boggers to get more gription...LOL

cool man - u still not had any probs with this setup? i was told by various people that it would cause probs in the long run with those hexes not fitting the shafts or pins properly, i guess they never actually tried it tho.

looks like u are happy with ur truck then, as it looks the same as the last pics i saw of it a while ago. its nice when it all comes together and works for u, and u dont need to mod anything else.

thanks for the update on those hexes. good to know it works.

oh yea - where did u get the shorter wheel nuts from? i think we could all do with a set of those.

poor judgement.... are those the imex rims... If so, I finally see what I was looking for... It appears to fit well and looks like turning won't be a problem.... like I said before, will the bearings and axles hold up? please bash test for me... This will certainly be easier than trying to change the axles... which may not work anyway..... let me know....................
