I've looked everywhere for pics/instructions on how to do the led light mod. Everywhere else simply says to solder in parallel to the motors with a pic of the finished product. That doesn't help me. Can anyone post pics of the process?

did you say we could orrder the canard from you ferndale? anyways the straws on the jet worked awesome i went to my park and it really helped with the wind. It may have just been the extra weight further out but i loved how it flew.

Thanks, rc18t145, but that put me right back to where I started. I emailed that website twice about how the mod is actually done. No response. I'm not surprised. I'm sure they prefer to sell me the mod with instructions rather than show me how to do the mod with my own supplies. I'm looking for something like this link that shows how to actually do it: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=72

Here are some pics of the jet with ss motors. Yes , it will take off and land.
VC, I included a pic of the lights that I made for my jet. The jumper is used as the switch. It hooks up directly to the battery. I used 2 ( 2.0v 25mAh 2000mcd ) and a 35 ohm resistor.

Hooking up lights directly to the battery is the safest way to go.
Unless you have done the FET mod to the RX, hooking up the lights
directly to the motors may cause damage to your RX.

I put the bottom wings on the top wings, and my aero ace flys great now. TONS of lift, but doesn't handle the wind that good. It proposes( that means it goes up and stalls, right?) a lot, so I will put some landing gear on it to try and slow it down some. I love my AA!!

GP, I'll try and find the directions I wrote on how to make canards. I wrote them up and tried to send them to AA toolbox, but the email was returned. Tim

This is the canard mod. I took the tail stabilizer from a guillows plane and cut it down to 35mm x 23mm x 45mm x 12mm. Once I had my finished size I wrapped the balsa in gift wrap scotch tape, this is to give the canard better strength. I then cut slits in the airframe about 10mm up from the bottom of the airframe, and starting about 15mm back from the nose. The slit should be about 25mm long. It should be 3-4mm deep, be careful, the wire loom is behind where you are cutting. I then take the tape and tape over the slits, being careful to leave tape on either side. Then I cut the tape enough to allow the canard to slide into place, the goal of this is to help keep pressure on the canard. I recommend a new razor blade for the cut. You then simply put the canards in place. No glue. The included pictures show my favored angle, but I have flown with the canards almost straight out.

I think sama has access to the other silverlit products. [link]http://crazyfruitbats.com[/link] should also have them and more. That site is UK based, so the shipping might be less expensive. Tim

I just finished the landing gear. It didn't work.[&o] The wheels didn't roll too well, and in the air, it wouldn't turn very well. But it still had a lot of lift. I'll try different wheels.

hehe, if my girlfriend is a project, then i've been working on her for almost two years. somewhere the project went wrong though, because she managed to train me a lot faster than i could train her!

as for time and money, well i just quit my job so i have the time, but the money is always short!

sama, flight times with the 30mah cell can varry a lot depending on the weight of the model and its wing loading. you could build a lightweight plane with an oversized wing and it could fly for a long time on its lowest throttle setting. on the other hand, if you build smaller and heavier, you'll need more throttle to stay up so the flight times are shorter. i'd say at least 4-5 minutes should be expected though, but that can change a lot.

If you want to add LED's to your AA the motors wires arent the best place. It just add current draw to an already stressed output.
Connect it to the + lipo lead and to the ON side of the power switch.
If it doesnt light when the swtich is on, reverse the leads.

Hi all, I put the soda straws on the wing tip, I used 6mm id straws. I cut the trailing edge to match the wing, the leading edge 90 degrees. The length matched the wing. It definately changed the turn rate. It flies well, but is a pig to turn after the first turn. A full wing version might help you take one turn tighter, but if you don't unload the air trapped in the straw via straight flight all other turns get tighter, and some flight commands get ignored. This obviously can create problems. I do think it is worthy of more experipentation. This experiment was on a stirstick mono mod. If you have a mono mod not tied to the body(toothpick and stirstick mods are tied to the body) Give it a shot, the body of the plane may allow more pendulum and let it be more controlable.
I'll keep tinkering with this. I think it might be helpful in the wind.

very inventive I like it ,how does the exta weight do in flight maybe better ahh

Chris, K-mart in springboro had 4 jets and 2 bipes on Thursday and if you have been looking for the SL, I saw one at TRU yesterday, no batteries though...
Suzonka, the jet flies great. I don't know if you have flown one before or not but because of the power I can no longer fly it in my front yard. I need some ideas on how to get it to turn sharp like the aa. My landing gear is pretty light at only.87 grams which makes the total weight about 24.1 grams add 1.2 grams when I add the lights.
