Su, the plane handles the same or easier. The canards help control the porpoiseing(SP?). Generally, they help the plane loiter and climb evenly. descent and turns are generally the same. Canards are not the mod for you if you want aerobatics. Tim

I installed two additional mortors for a total of 4 mortors! Flies beautiful...Climbs fast....Turns on a dime! Works with bottom wings on or off. Last about 80%

I have pictures on my profile... I'll try to post them here. I used the same batteries that it came with the AA only I removed the two motors and the battery pak from the jet version. I then installed them on the bi plane with the bottom wings removed. I then installed the extra battery in paralel for extra longevity. This plane screams. It can not be launched the normal way. It must be thrown while the motors are spinng slowly.

No doubt! But if you don't have the FET upgrade on the RX it may be
short lived. I've burned up 2 of em, and it doesn't take much to fry that
stock AA RX by drawing more current.

Flew this foamie a bit today and I've come to the conclusion that balsa
stick & tissue flys better than foam. It climbs nice but not even near
the planes with stick & tissue.
This plane weighs 19.7 grams and the balsa plane that weighs 4 grams
heavier with roughly the same wing area flys and climbs better.

The foam my be much quicker but the time spent building up a s&t balsa
wing is well worth the extra effort.

I did a four motor mod for a friend but I used 2 rx's and 2 batteries. It had alot of power but this friend has no patients for small details. The next day I saw the plain that I spent good quallity work time building sitting in the back window of his car, where it sat for 2 weeks. I never touched it again, except to chang it back to normal. Now that I have the rx mod , who knows...

Here's a view of my AA fleet.

On the left is the blue 'glider. This is my first AA and has plenty of time on it. I moved the battery forward and you can see it sticking through the nose. I also angled the wing end sections down to more of a gull wing configuration. This is an attempt to make the plane easier to control in wind and in turns by keeping the wing tip down. It wants to climb like a homesick angel and is easy to lose control of in any wind. Plus I soldered an antenna extension.

The orange C channel is another experiment. I removed the lower wing and began to slice off the ends of the upper wing. The goal is speed. This one is at least twice as fast as stock. I wanted to see how much wing can be removed and still fly. The price is stability in turns. In order to not lose altitude in turns I have to pulse the control, a blip a second to turn without diving. This is an advantage at altitude, because I can turn into a death spiral, lose altitude and recover to level flight in a flash.

The red B channel is stock. On all the planes I loosened the tail / stabilizer, rotate about 3 degrees aftward and tape into place. This reduces porposing. The stock planes are best for tight spaces and for turns without altitude loss.

Also in the photo is a Picco Z. Fun, but tough to control.

This 4 engine plane flies beautiful. If anyone out there has done the same to their plane please post.

Hey Neurotex, that foamie looks good. Have you tried changing the angle of the motors so the props point down a little? You could try changing the angle of attack of the wing, too.

Do you have a link on how to do the FET mod?

If anyone is interested , I guess I could make and sell some lights ( blue / green ) with resistor. These LED's ( 4500 mcd ) they are very bright and with the resistor giving the LED's the right voltage they will last longer. What would be a fair price , including shipping? Take into consideration what you would pay some where else.

Please PM me with any questions or comments.

Having it set up with the motors on the LE saves me from adding weight to
the nose since the weight of the motors is now forward of CG. Cuts down a
little on porpoising too.

I believe I've got it about as good as I can get it. I'll try some more adjustments but
I think the problem with the foam is that I can't get the same type of airfoil that I can
get with the built up balsa wings. The thickest part of the airfoil on the foam is 4mm
while the thickest part of the airfoil on my balsa wings is 11mm. That may mean more
drag but that also translates into more lift.

I do not seem to have anyh problem. I've had at least 16 full charge down flights and everything runs fine. The trick is to run the motors parallel and not in a series.

So far so good! It's really a crap shoot running multiple motors or larger
motors. One RX that I ran larger motors had capacitors and that seemed
to help but with the other two RX's, the larger motors blew the output transistors
that supplied power to the motors. You'll know it when one motor barely
turns or won't turn at all.
The one RX I got about a dozen or more fully charged flights while the other
one blew after about only three. Both blew after a full charge in mid flight
which made for a spectacular spiral dive into the ground.

I used two motors off a Aero Ace jet. I did not add the additional battery. The plane last about 90% of the time of the original. I also have know added apx 2.5 inches to the wing span on both sides and 3 inches to the length by pulling out the straw body. The last mod I made was removing the spring from the throttle. This helps maintain even flight. So far so good. Flight # 24 coming up.
