I had the same problem with one of my AA's. Charge for 1 minute, light
goes out, and then runs for about 1 minute. Found out it was my lipo going dead.

Stick a penny on the nose. It fixes the problem. It will fly nicely at 1/2 throttle the way it's supposed to.
Just make a cut with a knife and slide the penny in. I left a little showing of the penny and it actually looks like a front wheel.
If it works for you, just glue it on or tape it.

So just got Aero Ace yesterday, as an ex A&P I didn't like the cg, so I put a half a .177 pellet in the nose, really helped out.
But then after a couple of good crashes I noticed the plane was pulling hard left and nosing in. Unflyable. The left motor seemed to have more drag than the right, maybe a bent shaft? At any rate I took it apart to see what was up.
I got a new one today and clipped the lower wings and trimmed some foam, lost about .6 gram. Moved the battery forward about 4mm. Flies really well.
I saw a post about replacement parts, are there parts available, like a motor assy?
tia,
Jeff
Plus they're really good at sweeping up dog hair . . .

btw - what a great forums for electrics. Started with 1/12th scale road cars, then 05 boats, then dumping cobalts in boats. Getting ready to make another fast electric boat.

Thanks for the link rc !
I drive an Audi and the guys on the Audiworld Off Topic forum have been going nuts over these things as of late and I can see why. Great fun value.
If you go to Audiworld and search [link=http://search.audiworld.com/search.html]Audiworld search[/link] for Air Hogs and select Off Topic forum you can see the commotion these things have caused in the last week.
I would love to see realtime sales data for the Aero Ace, I mean probably 100 people from Audiworld went out and bought at least 1 in the last week!
Thanks for the reply.

i think that is what is happening to me. but i've always been able to fix it by turning on the tx and plugging it in and then when the light turns on i turn the tx off.

charging light blink on and then quickly blink off. More like a flash from
the TX charging light.
Sometimes I have to switch the on/off switch several times to get it to take
charge but once I do I get the full 10 min. charge up.

Yes, Aeroace is great. I paint the tails of all of mine florescent orange to keep track of them in tall grass. Careful with those extended wings- I lost one- a thermal caught it and bye bye. It out ran me, and I lost track of it. So now they all get the bright tails.
On our brother site www.rcgroups.com ,the boys have been making mods to the rx, tx, building Their own, ( F-16, Soukoi-29, etc) Just look under "indoor and micro." Depron is great. Midwest makes 1'X4' 2 pacs of 3MM foam, too.

actually, RCG started up an RTF forum, specifically for planes like the X-Twin/AeroAce. the indoor/micro section of RCG was overflowing with AA threads, one after another, so they made a section for them. there's more info there than anyone could absorb in an entire month, and where i learned all the goodies about the AA.

Since the jet forum seems to be the tri fusion forum. I am going to give you an amusing set of jet pics. Or at least try to. And always remember, to a cat, if it flies it's edible.

I know the cat involved, it started hunting the plane the moment it went down. During the time it took me to get my camera, Gert the cat was moving in. I did not have the flash on, but Gert knew that she was being watched. And that was a different bird. I'm reasonably sure that if that was a real bird, Gert would have eaten it. I think the spin the motor to remind the pilot saved the plane.
to those of you that track rc plane performance to real plane performance. The jet turns like an sr-71 habu. I saw one do what this plane does. Tim

Well I got the CG figured out, took more weight than I expected. Anyway now I have a different problem. With hands off the right stick it will fly straight. If it give it left it will gently turn left as long as i am holding it. But if I give it right, It really torques right, if I hold it it will do a quarter roll and then nose into the ground. It is flyable, just have to give short bursts with the right stick, but I would rather have to hold it like i do to the left. Would changing the thrust angles of the motors do any good?

Ferndales got a point but your problem seems a bit strange in that it flys streight with no turn input but turns sharp one way while barely turns the other. If the trim were off it whould be turning on no-turn stick input. I have one that does the same. It just flops over and crashes to the left if I give it much left turn while barely turns to the right I just had to learn how to make it turn both ways the way it wanted. These things have strange and independent personalities - that's the nature of cheap planes (even my Firebird and Aerobird seem to have really off days that make them are vertually uncontrolable - only my Preditor always does what I "ask" it to do). I just have learned to play it their way and not try so hard to make them behave the way I think they should. Hope some one else has a better solution (I could use it to).

sounds like one or more of the wings a little bent out of shape. i've had this happen on many tiny models, they dont want to turn one way very easily, but will turn in hard going the other. lots of little things that can cause that to happen, but its usually something to do with the wings. give everything a close looking over, if one of the wing tips looks bent up or down too far, or if the tail fins are bent out of place, start bending it back to what looks good and try some test flights. it can be a pain in the butt, but a well trimmed plane will always fly better than one that has some tweaks in the wing angles.

On one of mine, I added more curve in the wing that dipped by cupping it and blasting it with a hair dryer. It held it's shape and was OK.
On some, I've noticed that a good trim knob setting at full throttle was not good at half or minimum throttle. Adjusting the trim knob for best left and right turning performance was a good compromise in straight flying.

Installing a built up wing will solve a lot of problems.

I know I posted this pic before but this forum has gotten so large
it'll take a week to go through it.
Since my AA RX won't power all motors I've replaced it with an RX
from a Defender still using the AA lipo. It's a single stick now but at
least I can get air born again. The only good news is that I've increased
the range.

Well done. I thought I got elaborate with hoes and rakes. And ladders. And rope. And truck beds. I keep threatening to buy a soft air gun for trees. I haven't so far. Dud I mention knocking one down with the water hose? Happy 4th to all. Tim
