I have a brand new Jato, and need to get parts. I'm a newb to RC so....
What parts are recommended?
What websites have a good selection of Jato parts?
Any Jato specific websites?
Any FYI about the Jato I should know?
I know questions like this could seem repetitive to some, but please take 1min to help me.
Thanks in advanced,
Rudy

Get some tires, upgrade to rpm arms and buy lots of extra upper links. The upper tray breaks and so does the rear shock tower (have an extra rear tower as they are hard to find). Very tough car just keep it away from curbs.
Off topic, but how is Stanley Doing?

After replacing half the truck I should hope it is tougher! Yes I have seen and heard the Jato is not real tough. Do get plenty of rear shock towers. Good luck and have run.

go look at the OFFICIAL Jato thread and read everything that has been posted there, you will find lots of info to answer your questions at to what you should or should not buy or have on hand.
So far in 2 months have rebuilt the front end twice after having slammed curbs and drains with it.(It actually belongs to my neighbor, but, I get the fun job of rebuilding it and maintaining it for him.)second time when he slammed a curb at WOT it tore the from arm off but didn't bend it(gpm aluminum arms all the way round).

if you want realy good acceleration then buy a traxxas Resonator Pipe it gives the rpms a good boost like 3,000 - 5,000 more, but thats only if your willing to spend the extra 40 bucks on it. you should also buy some turnbukles (stock or alluminum will do fine, the only differnce is that the alluminum are lighter giving more speed but they break easyer than the stock. and once again if your willing to spend 40 bucks on them(stock are about 5 bucks for a pair).also buy the rear shock tower.
and the best site to buy parts is [link=http://towerhobbies.com/]tower hobbies[/link].

The first thing you will need is rear tires, every thing really depends on you.If you dirt race, rpm arms, rpm front bumper will save you future trouble. If you street race you will want to go for alluminum to gain weight. If your lhs stocks alot of parts, just wait and see what you are breaking.I have had mine since they first came out and have never broke a rear shock tower, but countless a-arms have found the trash can.Imex is coming out with 2.8 tires,2.2 wheels & tires will fit.IMO the jato eats tires so fast,I don't buy fancy rims, good old traxxas white dish rims work fine for me.I have the 3.3 engine, cvec pipe, sway bars, mid mount receiver pack, aluminum a arms, rpm front bumper 60mph+++++.

I only buy on ebay when I get a really good deal. I bid on about 200 or so items a month and might win 2 or 3. I do like and do a bunch of business with Towers but when I can buy it off ebay for less then half I have to go for it.

If you loose alot of items on ebay its because ur bidding skills are somewhat pathetic wait till they are like 20 secs left and make ur absolute top bid u are willing to make for that particular item. That way ppl dont have time to respond. If you make early bids ppl usually keep making bets after loosing the first one to your max price and so on to the next bidder. 2 Years ago I bought a futaba pck radio brand new purchased from tower hobbies and sold with 10 months of warranty left for $105.00. You can`t beat that period.

Lol I understand that, but making early bids do tend to higher prices than making one big bid at end.

Only thing I've added to my Jato in over a year is a few control arms and some rod ends..nothing else breaks on it...tires are crap replace those and your fine. Also do pay any attention to the Jato bashers saying its crap and breaks easy, they first need to own one to comment.

I have one word for everybody that uses ebay and would like to win more auctions.
[link=http://www.esnipe.com/]Esnipe[/link]
you can set it to bid a maximum amount that you want to bid and then leave it alone and it will automatically bid for you with only 2 seconds to go on the auction, that way you don't get into a bidding war with someone and drive the price up artificially. Your username will not even be listed on the auction as bidding until the auction is over.

Isn't that what Ebay does, you set a max that you will go and if nobody goes over your max bid, you win. Unless it bids over your max, if it does i'll skip on that. I bid based on the value to me, if somebody has placed more value than I, then they win
On the Jato, I have broke arms (two, fence) and a shock tower (too much throttle going over a quad) but those were my mistakes. if i run the truck more like what it was meant for it wouldn't break. it has proven to be a great truck when i run it right.

I don't know why all the non Jato owners chime in....Gotta own one to comment on it. Shock towers don't break easy on the Jato unless you got the shocks so tight they barely move...obviously the stress gets transfer to the shock tower then instead of the chassis and shock taking it and it causes the tower to break.

Hey badz, I do own a Jato and it is not the toughest truck I have ever had. The main problem I see is that the car does not have enough braking power for the large motor and 2 speed, but what can you do on a 2wd. And the rear tower is weak even if the springs are adjusted correctly so just have an extra, because for me it was a PITA to find. I also heard that if you upgrade the chassis then the upper tray and servos dont break as easy.

And as far as the braking goes, I can stop mine from WOT to deadstop in less than 30 feet without spinning or flipping it.
Seems to me that the brakes work just fine.
