They are both good. To make the planes fly like the real deal you will have to modify both to get that. I have just about tried them all except the NEW APFD! I have the old one APF! I like FSone better than all I have tried so far. I use to have G2 then I have tried G3 several time and our Local Hobby Shop has the G3.5 and I fly it just about every time I get there.. I still like FSone better. Like I said. You have to mod the planes to get them to work good.. ALSO Make sure you keep whitch ever one you get updated with the latest patch on the internet..

And take a look at Phoenix. It seems to have a number of dedicated followers who make a fairly strong case for it. They've convinced me to make an effort to try it.
With any popular software, the leading applications will almost always wind up including the same functionality. When one introduces something new and it becomes popular, it won't be long before the others include something like it. So you're not going to go wrong with either of the two mentioned.

I'm buying a Sim really shortly and just want to know what one is overall best and also for physics and graphics. Thanks.

I have just purchased it well my wife did for Xmas for me, And i have to say its the best Ive tried and found it more realistic than others Ive tried.
I have nothing to do with the company and have nothing to gain by recommending it.
But recommend it i do and the people who created it are very helpful and approachable very different to others

The consensus amongst those of us who have several sims is that they've all got some seriously good points, and a few flaws. The best thing I've done to improve my IRL flying is to fly all the sims I own (currently 6) IN ROTATION. If you're out to practice something new, remember that the cost of a sim (or 6) and a 'puter to fly them on will always be less than the cost of many of the planes we fly!

PS: In the interest of staying on topic (G3.5 or FSOne) I'll second the comment that planes need tweaking in all sims to fly as realistically as possible. Also, if you're comparing graphics or "the look" of a sim, be sure you're doing it on the same computer and monitor setup. Something as small as an antistropic filtering setting can make a HUGE difference in the way a scene looks. If FS One is on a high-end PC at Hobby Shop #1, and G3.5 is on a low-end PC at Hobby Shop #2, then FS One will blow G3.5 away... (or vice-versa, depending on setup.) Screen shots can (and are) be Photoshopped anyway. I think ALL of the sims should offer playable demos so you can try each one on your own system before making a decision.

i have both and on the same hardware, i prefer FS One. But i have decent cpu(3.06ghz)/mem (2gb rambus 800mhz)/graphics (nvidia quadro w/ 512mb ram) /and i/o (sata raptor drives). I do also have both loaded on my laptop, 1.6ghz centrino, and both run fine on there too.

If you want a game get G3.5. If you want a SIM get FS One. There is no better flight model available for planes. You wont be disappointed.
Edit: Now that Knife Edge have fixed 3.5 there is not much difference between the two. (The initial 3D flight model in 3.5 was terrible).
But I still prefer FS One.

I have a dell m90 with a NVIDIA Quadro fx 2500 512 MB open GL graphic card and a 2cureDuo processor 2.00 GHZ/667MHZ/4MB
will I b able run the G3.5 or the FSOne better? Or will they both work fine.
I would like to get better at 3D

My Feedback: (54)
I have the G 3.5 and I can't get the panes to 3D quite right. Normal flight is great, but the stalled manuvers need improvment. Water falls, tailslides, hammer heads, torque rolls, are not like the real planes I fly. Maybe FS One is better in these areas. I will probably get another sim to see the differance myself.

I sold my FS one. It is not as user friendly and takes more time to switch between pages. I now own AeroFly deluxe and G3.5 and feel they are much better.

Thanks for the link. I am going tonight to try out FS One. I had the G3.5 demo and it was good for a trial. I think that FS One is better for real 3D flying while 3.5 looks good for scale planes and fun flying as everyone is saying.
Will a processor 2.2 Ghz Processor, 512 mb ram, 120gb hard drive, and either 54 or 128 mb video card be good? I definately want to get a different video card with 256mb. Can anyone recommend good cards that work good with these simulators? Thanks.

I find it funny how easily folks can make empirical statements on how one sim is better than another when it is such a subjective experience.
I have flown RC for 30 years and used Realflight for quite some time to practice and experiment.
I helped behind the counter of a local hobby shop over the Christmas holiday where both FS One and RF G3.5 were available to try and buy.
I personally didn't like the feel of many of the planes in FS One and the controller seemed to have weak springs on the gimbals.
I am not going to tell you that since I prefer G3 that you should go that way. Rather look at and try both of these sims if not AFPD also.
Then decide for yourself.

I own both of them and can honestly say I see no measurable difference between the two as far as flight physics. there are things I like and dislike about both of them. put all the hype out of your head and pick the one YOU like better.
and here is wht I run them on.
ASUS P5B Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO Processor at 2.4GHZ
2 Gigs of ram
Nvidia GEForce 7950 GS
runs both of them flawlessly, however, both of these simulators use more CPU than any game I play on the same computer.
Oh No, now I guess we can talk about the whole Nvidia vs ATI thing, aint competition great? LOL

It's not only funny, but it also gives you an excellent insight into the value of the poster's advice/opinion/BS.
Whenever a poster says that one is awesome and the other blows, and the two are equally successful, usually the only thing that blows is his judgement. It's usually not worth the time to read the rest of his post.

(have both brands. hot cards in hot boxes driving hot monitors. If there's a difference, it's too minute for these old eyes to see. Have gone from one to the other in the same box and ditto.)

G3.5 or AFPD with a little tweaks is absolutely amazing, no sim is picture perfect though. It really depends what you looking to use it for... If you really want to play online get g3.5 but if your looking for amazing graphics and physics afpd will do and 3.5 but I think the graphics are slightly better in afpd, but that's my opinion, fsone? I don't know if it's any good because I've never played it. Reflex XTR is also a great sim.

AND, even at $200 each, owning (and using) several sims as a training aid is still cheaper on a per-crash-basis than the real thing... Anyone who wants to fly better - including the pros (not wannabe poseurs like...err...that's not nice, I'll refrain!) - can learn volumes by practicing a given pattern or maneuver in ALL of the sims and then applying that to the real world. Muscle memory and correct reactions can be taught and retained very well with any sim.
All 5 major sims AND the iMac I fly them on are still less of an investment than my new plane. Besides, how do you get stick time put in when it's raining and blowing 40knots outside? ;-)

I agree, I listened to some of those people and as a result have purchased both G3 (now upgraded to 3.5) and FSone. a waste of money I know. but all these guys that say this one is terrible and that one is great, I just don't see it, neither one of them is perfect, think of them as a training aid. that's what any of them are in my opinion.
