Hey everyone,
How is this plane? I was thinking about putting a zdz 50 on it for power. Does anyone else have this combo? Do you think it would be good for 3D? Well thanks for the help.

Tec,
I haven't heard any "so so" comments about this one. The parts on mine fit like a glove. Covering job is great and the paint on the cowl is flawless, the lines mate correctly with the fuse. This has been echoed by a few on here.
funfly2005,
I used rocket city, hitec digitals, mpi super switches, a 1200mah on ign and 1400mah on rx. Dry weight is 15lbs 10ozs. Looking forward to flying this thing.

I just got a GP patty and this H9 Cap
The Cap is the better of the two in quality, mine is nearly perfect.
It is an excellent 3d plane and a very good IMAC by all I've read but I haven't flown it yet. 50cc would be the right size.
It should finish out a pound lighter than the Extra and has more wing area.

Hey funfly2005-
(This is Erik from the Tammany club)
Just finished my H9 80" CAP. I put a Brison 3.2 on it with a Slimline Pitts and a Menz 22x10S. Final weight without smoke is hair over 16 lbs. (might not add the smoke after all). Fit and finish of my ARF was spectacular with one exception- the wing bolt holes which come predrilled were slightly off causing a major headache! I also had to modify the box a little to accomodate the muffler (no big deal). I ganged two servos for rudder (maybe overkill? maybe not!). I also sprayed the gear white - looks very cool! Hope to see yours at the field soon.

Hey Eric,
This is Jimmy from Tammany.
I want to get the best power and lightness out off this plane. I think if you want to do 3D with smoke you need a little bit bigger plane but it would be fine if you didn't want to 3D. Or just use a glow engine on it and spend big $$$$$mula in fuel.
Tell me when you are going to fly it I will come and watch. I bet it looks good with that white gear too.
See ya at Tammany or even Slidell.

Flew ours today.....after cranking for over 3 hours, we FINALLY got the prop in the right location to start that puppy.....only got one flight - the right aileron's horn fell off! I KNOW that screw was put in tight + I used locktite....but that's the way it goes.
NO PROBLEMS - even with one aileron flapping in the breeze - talk about flutter - didn't effect it one bit!
G-45 took her up - unlimited vertical - snaps at low settings - just 'O.K.' at high setting that is something else - WOW!!!!
Just one smoooooooth flying bird - this one's a keeper - anyone know the size of the horn screw for a JR 2721's?????
Might have to put in an 8103 in its place...looks like a special thread.
Jerry
PS Brian, how did yours fly?????

Flew mine for the first time this weekend. Brison 3.2 with Slimline pitts ran flawlessly and sounds great. My final weight with this setup is 16 lbs. 12 oz. This is accurate postal measurement. had to add 2.5 ozs. of lead to tail to balance. If you are using a 50 cc class engine forget about smoke- too much weight for this one!
Flight characteristics are excellent. Pitches to belly on knife edge- typical on the CAP 232- can be mixed out. Nice inverted flat spins! Perscribed 3D rates are wild.
Can't wait for next weekend!!!

Jerry,
Did you use the G45 mounting instructions in the manual or did you use a cup mount. I'm using a G45 with a cup mount and think the engine is gonna be too far forward. Also if you had to add 7 Oz to the tail I might go with the wood spacer called out in the manual but cut down the width to 3/4 inch. What'cha think.

Jerry,
I used 1" spacer (wood)...the manual sucks at mounting location -notice the differences between the pictures and the dimensions?
I had to move the engine DOWN an inch to clear the Bisson Muffler, now the cowl is tilted a bit.
Horizon mounted the engine directly to the spacer (I used the mounting plate (1/8"?)...didn't feel confortable not being able to get to the engine mounting bolts.

I thought you said that the plane was 15lbs 10oz not 16lbs 10oz?-
PS- Mike said that it flew great and you really can slow this one down.
