How did you put the oil in the diff? Did you just fill up 1/2 of the diff about 60% before you put the two halves together or did you add it through a screw hole after assembly? Thanks.

yes just 3/4 full it then screw the end cap on .....if you have bought the complete diff it might come with oil in if it has try that first

I finally received my two Nutech diffs, and when I opened them up to put in the silicone oil I found them both full of grease and no sign of any 0-rings to keep the oil in the diff! If I am supposed to remove the grease and then fill them up with oil, what is the best way to remove all of the grease! Also, where am I supposed to get the 0-rings to keep them from leaking? Thanks.

if you take them all the way apart you will find the orings there should be a oring and a plastic spacer on each axle and a oring on the main housing betwen both 1/2s

best way to clean the grease out is to use a bit of petrol will clean it up quick

So, apparently they all come with grease and you have to remove it to make it oil filled! Ok! I can buy that, but I did not get an o-ring for between the two halfs! Would it be one that would likely be available at the local hardware or auto parts store? I won't know about the ones on the shafts until I get the grease out! Thanks.

I received an email from Ethan at Nutech and of course they ask me to check in the grease for the o-ring! But considering there is no grease where the o-ring is supposed to be that was futile! I do not know what they are going to do, but I asked them to send me the large o-ring that goes between the two halves! I did get the grease out of the other diff and filled it about 60% full of 50,000wt silicone oil, so we will see how that one does!

Actually, all that is missing is the large o-ring that goes between the two halves of the case!

Bentley,

I finally had a chance to install the Nutech diff in my FG Stadium truck, and I seem to be having a problem with the handling of the truck ever since! I filled the diff up with 50,000 diff fluid as recommended and all seems well with the diff install, except that when I accelerate it wants to pull quickly to the left, and when I let off the gas it seems to want to turn quickly to the right! Can anyone explain why that might be, and do you think the new diff causing it? I have checked the rest of the running gear and all seems normal! Thanks.

What you now have is torque steer because the diff is hooking up so much compared to before, I would go down in oil wt maybe 30,000 or go further to 10,000 then you can find a happy medium between. I know it is a hassle in a FG to remove the diff to do this but once it is right you will never look back.

RCkiwi,

Thanks! I thought that may be it! It seemed like an awfully thick oil when I put it in! Your right it is a pain to take the diff out of an FG!

The fun includes complicated disassembly and reassembly for maintenance, even just for cleaning IMHO [8D]

i didnt realy have a prob with my marder ...... prob a silly question but have you checked your wheel alignment ?? give it a little more tow in and try it ..see if that helps... allso check that your masurment from front wheel center to rearwheel center is the same

I checked the alignment, etc. and all is set up properly, beside it ran fine before I put the new Nutech diff int it! I think RC Kiwi is right, it is probably torque steer and reducing the weight of the oil to 30,000 may fix it! I will find out tomorrow, as I bought some 30,000 diff oil today to try! Thanks guys!
