Anyone Tried The New Evolution .60NX?
Evollution has a new engine - .60NX - it is a .60 in a .40 size. This hobby is so addictive I tell ya. I'm itching to give the new Evolution .60NX a try. I have a SuperTigre G-51 with a pipe on a small 4lb 11oz plane and I'm thinking about putting one of these on it and give it a try with maybe an 11x7 or 12.x6 prop.
Anyone have one of these? RPM numbers? Prop recommendations?

We're sorry. No matches for "evolution 60NX" could be found.
To find the 60NX on the Horizon site, you have to search for just Evolution and look through the selection.
To search for Evolution 60 doesn't return anything
Horizon has such a wonderful search engine

To take the metric bore/stroke dimensions and multiply them out the displacement comes out to be 0.593540954 cubic inches

Evolution .60NX Engine with Muffler
Key Features
- [*]Smaller size and lighter weight than typical displacement .60 engines. which leads to a higher power to weight ratio.[*]Fits smaller airframes where .60 size power was not previously available.[*]7oz lighter than competitive .60 size engines.[*]Deisgned to make use of aftermarket tuned exhaust to enhance 40 size plane performance by increasing power.[/list]
Overview
The new Evolution .60 is revolutionary for modelers demanding the most from their engines. This new engine provides the performance of a .60-sized engine in the case size of a .40-size engine, allowing modelers to put more power into smaller configurations. The .60 will truly be a “hot rod;” it will provide modelers with speed and performance which has previously been unavailable in the .40-.60-size sport market. For the modeler who doesn’t want to stop at the impressive speeds offered out of the box, the engine will be designed to work with aftermarket pipe systems to provide the ultimate in model engine performance.

I saw a stack of them at my local hobby shop. [8D] They were loudly calling my name!

There's threads in the Classic Pattern, and Extreme Speed Prop Planes forums, but I don't think anyone's gotten one yet?
You can be the first kid on your block with one, and tell us how it runs! [8D]

I have the OS .55AX (the first of this type of engine) and then I bought the Enya .61CX. Both are great engines, but neither match a contemporary state-of-the-art engine in power/performance. After all, they are running with less induction tract volume than the .45 and .52 sized engines from whence they came. They are good for muscling around a .40 sized plane, but neither is equal to a true sixty. I don't see why anyone would expect the new Evolution .45 based .60 to do any better. Maybe as well, but not better.

And Jett did it a decade ago.
I agree proptop - the oversize thing has become de rigeur now. We have "small block" .76's from Jett now, where will it end?
I love it. I hope someone runs one of these and reports back soon. I don't think anyone is expecting miracles, but anticipation is half the fun - it will be very interesting to see what it does. As I recall, the .36 puts out some pretty good power in the 17-18k range. The specs and hype for this one indicate pipe timing, so with a good aftermarket exhaust lessee what it does.

I'm going to pick one up. I have a 60-90 sized pipe that I picked up at a recent swap meet that I need to try as well. I'm not real sure which Macs pipe I need to get to fit it though. I'll have to call Macs and see if they know unless one of y ou already know.

See how tight the pinch is before you crank it. I've seen them very tight. Have a hotter plug on hand just in case it doesn't like the OS 8 heat range..

Like a #6 or a #7 (formally an A3)?

RE: Anyone Tried The New Evolution .60NX?
I was told that the header pipes I could use are Mac's number 2591 or 2590.
I plan on picking one up this weekend. I'm going to try an APC 11x7, 12x6 and a 13x6. I probably will tune the pipe to 12x6 if, like the Evolution web site says that, the engine can turn 12,000 on the 12x6. The pipe should make that 13,000 to 13,500 or more I'd think. Stupid strong motor for a 4lb 11oz plane I plan to put it on!

Pinch? Is this an ABC engine kind of pinch?

Yes, the A3 is perfect and necessary for the Evo .455, .46NT, .61 engines. The .52 runs very well with them too, but I'm not as sure about it being necessary.

Horizon Hobby won't ship internationally.
Is there another US based hobby distributor or e-retailer who stocks these, and is happy to ship internationally?

RE: Anyone Tried The New Evolution .60NX?
Just got one today, plan on using it in a Twist or 40 size Ultra Stick. I have an older 46nt and it's just been a peach. I hope this one's as good. I was kind of hoping it would be a versatile engine for me. I think you could push it some and install it in some 60 size planes if you wanted the option.

Received mine a couple of weeks back. It has very tight pinch even without a glow plug.
It looks a winner, though as always the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I have not fired it up yet.

You guys let us know how they work out. When I went to buy one, they were out at the hobby shop. Now, I'm torn between an OS 55AX or this guy. I plan to run a header and pipe on it.
