I fly around the middle stick for most stuff and the slow Derry turns you see are quite small stick movements. I have expo at 35% ail, 50% Elevator and 40% rudder. D/R percentage on Ail/Elev are both 80%. Ailerons on 20mm radius hole and elevator on 17mm.
All JR figures.
Its a very smooth aeroplane, but can be pulled very tight and "fun Fly" turns are possible, it just looks wrong!

Hi Dave,
Do you have a Powerbox Evolution in your Tutor ? and when/what makes you decide to use the evolution over a Gemini, or sensor switch ???
Hope that makes sence...
Cheers Jeremy.

No, I have a Competition in it. Only reason over the Evolution is the 7 channels (its an older version) rather than 6 channels.
I would not use a Sensor or Gemini in a large aeroplane as they are just switches, the PB units boost the signal and screen the Rx.
I have each aileron, elevator and flap on a channel and the rudder and nose steering share because no reverse is needed. That is the 7 channel on the longer leads, I then run throttle, brakes, smoke and gear + Doors directly through the RX. I don't use a sequencer I use servo slow on the DSX-12 to sequence the gear/doors. The New PB Cockpit could be used to save a channel

Thanks Dave for your info. Does anyone know if there is a lighting package for the Tutor yet. Unless you have been to one of there performances you don't know how much that big light out front is part of there show. Also what about a scale pilot, not to pick on yours Dave, but I know he is an action figure from some animation series but I don't know what. To give you a heads up there uniforms are red, that would be a good start.

Nothing yet, but plenty available. My nose light is way underpowered...you can only see it in grey dark conditions!
The Pilot is a Graupner "Bust" mounted on a black cross plate, it was the only 1/4 scale pilot I had in stock...It was better than nothing. Scale 1/4 Scale full body pilots will be ordered very soon from MAF in Germany.

Airpower.eu are doing a lighting system for the Tutor. It's not cheap but I have one of their systems already and it's brilliant, super bright lights, good controller and very complete package.
Here's the link for the tutor set

The process is about to start again, the first of the Tutor kits arrived today, this one is to be built by Steve Roberts and me for a friend...as he is loaning it to us for the Formation Cup! Thanks Simon ;-)
I noted the new scheme is on CARF's site too...

Another great day flying the Tutor. Last additional detail for me, I scratched in the flap and added the last decals from Ralf.
Still moving the balance point forward as I find in a wind it is slightly pitchy (possibly a tail area related thing) I think this bird likes to have the balance point in a forward position.

Another day with the Tutor, 5 flights today, four with Steve Roberts, so he could get used to it before we fly two in the formation cup.
So far zero maintenance required after 20+ flights.

High Dave, a superb and thoroughly interesting thread, this bird has grown & grown on me since I started reading about it, it's firmly on my wish list, wish being the operative word
Hoping you will be bringing it along to the Nats for us to drool over[8D]
best regards,
Vince.
PS I'll be running the Jet line[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Will be at CJ this Friday, hopefully with it's brother!
Unlikely to take it to the Nats as the show line changes left a bad taste in the past, even with a good guy like you running it I'm now too busy with a trade stand and competing in F3c

Any questions on the build, please feel free to email me at [email protected], I'm not always looking at RCU since sometimes it's full of rubbish

Thanks Dave. As soon as building begins I'll be contacting you.
I'll be posting some photos. Any one else with this paint scheme?
Hector ( ENT).
