I wissh you a lot of fun with it.

Hi Hammer,
Thanks ... Nice Vid ... was that a loop?

Yup ... I still need to save up some $$$ to get one of your CF frames one of these days ... when are the other optional parts going to be available ... landing struts? gear protectors? What is the weight of each frame?

My alu-tweety with coolies and 900mAh lipo is around 285g.

@eric

no - this was no loop, only some tricks and spins - just a funflight

The landing struts, pom-protectors and the second charge of the frames will be in stock in 1-1,5 weeks.

For example, the Race-version of the X-FRAMES (ready to take of inkl. lipo) is around 256-260gr.
like the foto - the allround is about 248gr.

Hi heliXcopter,
Yup ... my Bug-mod vertical risers ... turned out a bit too heavy ... still looking for the right solution. Where's some pics of yours???

Actually ... it was the chicken, then the egg of faberge, then the alu-gutter guard, then my alu-Tweety cage mod
Thanx,

I started a new thread and poll over at rcgroups ... feel free to drop on by.

Hey @all

i'm back again in this Forum - now we make the first Prototypes in Framedesign for the Draganflyers.
The first one is ready - it is a full carbon-monocoque.

on the pic: the left one is a frame for the new x-3d ufo and the right greater one for the DF.

Looks super Hammer!!! Like the modified open top ...

I have been adding stuff to my Alu-Tweety mod [link]http://forum.xufo.net/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2026&start=33[/link] ... will the X-Frame Monocoque support a high riser connector off of the X-3D cam-connector and the jumpers now or is clearance still too tight? Any ideas on how to hook up a FlyCamOne

[link]http://forum.xufo.net/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2026&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=24[/link] to your frame?

Also, are you going to design bigger CF frames for the BL X-3D UFO or stay in the Atmosphere size for them. I'm still saving my pennies for a frame.

Hi eric

and thx

Yes - we design now for bigger BL-Ufos "and" for the Draganflyers. (same size)

The new x-frame Monocoque will support different connectors.

Greetings

Forgive my ignorance, but the choppers flying in the videos are basically modified x-ufos? Very impressive. I've never actually seen an x-ufo but if they're capable of flying like that out of the box they would be a very economical alternative to the Draganflyer. I love those aftermarket carbon frames will alu motor mounts.

I have an X-UFO, no mods...Unfortunately, it definitely will not fly like that out of the box! The mechanical gyro it uses only has about 20 degrees or so of freedom, and if you exceed that, the X-UFO does a "flip of death" out of the sky. But with that gyro replaced by a piezo board, the X-UFO can be made to be a great flyer (at least, based on the videos here; I haven't modified mine).

Oh, I said no mods, but I do have one: I use a Draganflyer 1320 battery with my X-UFO (modified to use Deans connectors)...The X-UFO will fly forever on that battery, long enough to melt the motors if you don't give it a rest from time to time.

I like my X-UFO for indoor flying, but it's a toy. With the mods discussed here, it becomes more of a real flyer. I do have to say one thing for the X-UFO, at least mine (others have had different experiences): It's been crashed by me, my son, my buddy and his buddy, etc., etc., etc., many times and flown away from it. (Yes, I still have the polyfoam rings installed; makes it very crashworthy, not to mention, nice on the furniture!) So if you get a "good" one (the mech gyro can be touchy), it's a great trainer. And with the mechanical gyro, it flies like a DF with TI enabled--indoors. That's the one advantage of the mech gyro: it's actually sensing angular position rather than rate, so the X-UFO can actually self-level. With piezo gyros (I'm assuming anyway), there's no self-leveling, just stability augmentation.

@TheHindmost

you are absolute right.
The original x-ufo is a toy - not more. The x-3d ufo is a professionel flyer with full 3d.
And in 2007 with brushless - so we designed our frames not for the toy-version

Here is the newest video with brushless and a lot of loops.

That BL x 3d-ufo definately looks promising.
I was wondering what the max payload capacity is for flying this machine without crashing it?
And is the flying outside comparable to flying a DF with Ti on or better?

@flyingdutchie

i must say - flying with x-3d piezo is better than TI. (The only flying quadrocopter for loops)
But we like the DF's also and for this reason we create some Frames for the DF's now.

So do you guys just build and sell the mods for x-ufos and draganflyers or do you sell complete machines? I personally don't really care for TI too much and like the idea of the piezo gyros.

I'm sure Hammer_DE will correct me if I'm wrong here (please do!), but with piezo gyros, it's essentially impossible to do actual self-leveling (with respect to the real horizon). Piezo gyros are angular accelerometers. They do not sense position, only rate of change. This can be used to provide stability augmentation (resistance to uncommanded attitude changes), but it can't be used to do actual self-leveling. If you roll to 10 degrees of bank and center the stick, the piezo gyros will do their best to hold that 10 degrees of bank, not return to level, as happens both with the X-UFO with mechanical gyro and the DF with TI enabled.

I think I understand now. I think TI is great as long as it is working properly, but it annoys me when it's cloudy and I can't get 2 greens and I either have to fly without TI, or fly another day. I suppose I could just get really good at flying without TI but I tend to have lots of crashes when I do.

first we build and test the mods and if they are ok, a german shop sell them. we are only developers.

@TheHindmos

YES - you are absolut right, but with the x-3d board you always can fly handsoff. indoor and outdoor.

Hey Hammer,
Could you post a link to the place that sells the mods? I would love to be able to fly indoors.

What do you exactly mean by this? does it have a sort of self levelling ?

Very nice piece of work there...the frame should work better for the df i think..now every time it has a "hard" landing ,i have to realign
everything and set trim again..

@flyingdutchie

the new DraganFlyer is almost ready - the only things we need to finish are the new alu-motormounts.
Than the Frame is ready for "take-off". (i think in 1 or 2 days)

On the pic: left a brandnew full-alu-frame for x-3d ufo and right the brandnew CF/Alu Frame for DF
or big BL-Ufos with x-3d piezoboard. (i love big flyers)

Looking good!
So basically,the DF is a drop in ,same with the brushless X-UFO? (will they share similar motor mounts etc.)
What is the total weight of your DF mod ,including motors and what would the brushless X-UFO weigh ?
Any ideas on pricing?
Keep up the good work!
[sm=thumbup.gif]
oh,btw,am i right when i think the new frame is bigger than the standard DF frame?
