I am a VERY happy owner of an MVVS .49 engine. I am running it on a standard silencer though. I'm thinking of installing the .49 in a something extra. My question, if I purchase a pipe for it will I lose the mid range? I don't want balls to the wall power at full throttle. What I want is quieter operation with the same or better transition. I know guys equiped with Rossi's and tuned pipes etc that have to get the engine"to sit on the pipe" running full steam etc or off. I don't want this!

Installing a #3248 tuned silencer, with the long header, will force you to give up nothing in the mid-range.
In fact, the engine will get 'on the pipe' at part throttle, like when hovering.
From hover to full launch, it is a seamless, linear increase, once the secondary needle is perfectly adjusted.
This may take a few attempts, as that needle is extremely sensitive, so make your test flights 'two mistakes high.
But once done, you will love the result.
It will not be quieter, however.
The whole crowd will come to see what's that sound...

Dar, will it be louder than the standard "stock" muffler?
I have to keep within a decided DB rating. For example, we don't like Pitts style mufflers on .61's [

It is a much more sporty sound.
Not ear piercing, like the standard silencer, but it definitely gets the attention of people around you.
If you are looking for 85 dB levels, only the #3245A silencer can do it, but power is not one of its leading virtues.

The sound of the .49 on the pipe can be tamed to some degree by adding a length of silicone tubing to the outlet on the pipe. This allows you to route "spooge" away from the airplane as well, reducing clean-up time! They sure sound neat at 14,000 rpm or so though!

The sound is not offensive at all if you enjoy hearing an engine really doing it's thing. The other day I was flying my Morris Knife w/MVVS 45. I cranked it up and brought it up on the highspeed side. About all 20 of the other people present stoped and looked.....several ambled down the flight line and watched. Later they showed a lot of interest in what was making the sounds. None had really seen this set-up and showed a lot of interest. Try it you will like it, lots.

You are referring to the length of silicone tubing (100-500 mm), to route away the exhaust and to aid in subduing the noise.
You can do a search on Google for silicone+tubing+Israel and find local manufacturers (Dgania Silicone, FE) and suppliers of this product.
I cannot pull an immediate seller from my sleeve, so to speak.
You are not very likely to find it in hobby shops either.

I am using rubber pipe from car water cooling this hold the mini tune without any other support
this kind of rubber pipe withstand against any kind of fuel (gas or glow).
The rubber pipe clamp with metal band that hold very strong
I think the vibrations are lower than silicon pipe and top end support.

I strongly recommend that you use some kind of bracket for the tuned silencer; preferably in the middle of it.
If not, you run a strong risk of breaking the header...
Here are two good candidates:
