Pe,
I am in the market for a 35cc gas engine for an upcoming project (KMP Pitts 12). Your site shows the MVVS 35cc as back-ordered...is this still the case? BTW, what are the specific differences between the Evolution and the "new" MVVS 35cc engines? TIA.

I have one with Vlach 4.5 - 6V ignition left in stock. Am still waiting for the New MSR ignition equipped engines.
The differences are in anodize colour, and I think that the evolution engines all have the Standard MSR ignition, whereas MVVS has the light version for the 26 and 35cc. (no choke servo output)

Just got word they will be shipped out next week. My mails to MVVS got trapped in their spambox
I hate those criminals that pollute the internet with unsollicited mail. I would welcome it when all providers would charge 5 cents for each mail. That would end the spam quickly.
(just venting my anger)

I just purchased the Evolution 26 GT2, and it does not have the auto choke controller, either.
The manual does not tell me what spark plug gap should be used, nor the torque that should
be used to secure the spark plug. Without such data, it will be easy to strip the spark plug
threads from the head.
The manual also does not tell me how to change the ignition timing for various mufflers, as
some reviewer stated you could/should do.
Also, one of the reviews I read said that the LED would drive a tachometer, so you could read
out the highest RPM encountered in flight. The manual says nothing about it.
Thank you,
Chris Shaker

The instructions to torque a CM6 plug are on the plug box
The instructions to set the ignition curve are on the Horizon web site, as well as in the included flyer that comes with the engine (this is MVVS support, which may be different).
The review you refer to probably was for the previous ignition model (Vlach) The LED function in the current ignition module is different, and explained in the included flier, and on Horizon's web pages.

Duh. I didn't inspect the plug box. Excellent idea.
My Evolution 26 appears to have the Lite controller, which appears to not have the ignition curve?
My Evolution came only with their manual, and their stickers. No flier. I will check out Horizon's web
page again, but am pretty sure I already downloaded their manual. As I recall, it was the same as
what came in my box.
Thank you for the help,
Chris Shaker

Pe:
I previously sent my questions about my Evolution to Horizon Hobby's technical support.
No reply as of yet.
The spark plug box appears to indicate a spark plug gap of 1/16 mm, and a torque
value of 1/2. Is that 1/2 newton/meter?
Strange gap measurement for a metric value?
I just found the NGK web site, and their installation instructions:
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/tech_su...x.asp?mode=nml
This web site sells the plugs in the US, and lists specs for the 5812 CM-6 plug:
http://www.ngk.com/results_cross.asp?pid=5812&x=0&y=0
Says it is a 10mm dia, .339" reach, 8.6mm hex, gasket seat, non resistor, clip style terminal.
According to the NGK installation instruction web page above, it appears the correct installation
torque in an aluminum head is 7.2~8.7 ft/lbs.
Is the correct gap really 1/16 mm, or am I misreading the box?
Thank you,
Chris Shaker

[Never mind, I just found your spark plug gap advice in another forum message, including it here for other readers. Thank you again Pe]
0.6mm will be fine (0.020-0.025" )
