just purchased Exceed RC F/A-18E Tiger RTF (listed as F/A-18C Tiger) http://www.nitroplanes.com/exceed-rc...r-version.html
i cant find a way to contact Exceed RC to ask them any questions.And the product came with no info. The radio has three led lights- green yellow and red, what do these mean? the green light comes on when radio is turned on.
Also the manual says to turn the power switch off on the plane before plugging in the lipo battery, but i cant find one on the model and it throws sparks when i plug it in. I'm sure that cant be good.does this model even have an on/off switch, if so where the heck is it cause im not finding one.

p.s. she is a beauty and cant wait to fly her and hope to hear from ya's

oh yeah i also noticed that almost all of the replacement parts are sold out.will you guys be getting more? i have already done some searching for parts on other sites and have had no luck.

On most electric plans the on off is pluging in the battery. You MUST always turn on the radio first and then the plane and the radio should be the last thing you turn off. I am sure there is a thread for that plane did you look?

The Three lights show the power levels.

Green means that the TX is fine and has ample power.

Yellow means that you should be landing and replacing the batteries ASAP.

Red is NO FLY!

There is no power switch on the plane.

Rather turn on the TX, bring the throttle all the way down, then plug in the battery connector.

The plane should beep once it detects the TX signal.

And yes it is normal for the connector to spark when you plug the LiPo in.

You have two learning areas to deal with...

Electric planes & EDF's.

You may want to at the least look at some of the ESC programming manuals, so you are aware of all of the options. It doesn't matter which ESC, the idea is just to gain some familiarity.

Also check out what you can about Electric motors, ESC's & Batteries.

Things are much different compared to glow, and it is very easy to ruin an electric setup if you are new to this.


EDF's also require a bit of preparation & setup, lest the EDF vanes break off in flight.
This involves resolving vane clearance issues and gradual run-ups.

Sports-Flyer magazine had an excellent article about dealing, breaking in, and setting up EDF's last year.


Also remember that EDF's unlike tractor planes, have no prop wash over the control surfaces. This means that at slow speed, the planes are difficult to control at best... so it takes some getting used to.

Remember that if you have any difficulty trying to remove the rotor, then don't bother.

Instead use the folded sandpaper trick to file off the edges of the rotor blades.
