Help Nitromodels !
I just manged to get my F14 ready to go after spending some time on the FMS.Its a really sweat plane all was great except a squashed nose cone. Now after running the motor for a short burst it no longer works? I can smell a burnt wiring odor at what i think is the speed controller on the plane. If i plug the battery in and turn the hand held on without out even giving the motor any input. The motor turns a few times than stops.Something must be shorted (speed controller)? Because i smell the burning wiring smell on the plane again. Thanks for any help ! Here is my Order Number: 613448

Can you make sure that's true? removed the under carriage and take a look at the ESC for me. If there is a short you can use. Let me know and I'll replace the parts.

I just took out the ESC ! It is the source of the smell. It smells like shorted wiring! Have you had problems with them? Seems like the motor must have pulled enough current to burn it out.I think that ESC Has a 25 amp rating. Thanks for your help !

Heh, you need to get your fighter designations straight!
The F-14 is a twin engine Fighter Attack aircraft.
The F-16 is a single engine tactical fighter aircraft.

I have the Exceed F-14 which is a SWEET flyer.

RE: Help Nitromodels !
HELP!!!!!!!! I have the F35 from nitro planes and the wiring is got me all messed up. It has only two servos it looks like and then the long rod that hooks the elevators with the ailerons. And I have SPEKTRUM DX6i radio with dualaile mix, v-tail, elevon Okay so when I tie two of the plugs into a Y and use the dualaileron it work fin for turning. But no up and down. Now there seems to be two servo cords coming out of the side of the plane as if there were four servos in the back but I can only see two and they are hooked to the long rods that hook them to the elevators. So can some one please help me before this plane goes in the trash. I have no book and I am lost PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

RE: Help Nitromodels !
The default setup, is to use the two provided servos to control BOTH the elevator and ailerons.
In other words the right side servo is to move the right aileron and elevator AT THE SAME TIME, IN THE SAME DIRECTION.
Likewise with the left side servo.
You use the provided longer rods, that came with the quick release already affixed to join the ailerons surface to the elevator.
You then set your TX for ELEVON mixing.
It looks a little weird, but it flies fine this way.
The extra cord you see is a "Y" cable used to add two additional servos onto the tail to seperately control the elevators if you so desire.
However this requires a normal direction servo AND a reversed servo. In Micro servos these are difficult to find.
So you are best off using a set of Spektrum Digital Programmable Micro Servos ( 19.00 / ea ) and a Spektrum Digital Servo Programmer ( $24.00 ) to reverse the movement of one of the servers, to do this.

RE: Help Nitromodels !
John Thank you the ESC came in the mail today.I have a question? The original ESC is wired orange to black,Yellow to yellow,Black to orange.I am wondering if the black and orange leads are reversed.I have taken pictures of the wiring also. And pictures of a hole blown threw the bottom of the original ESC.I do not want to install the new ESC and follow the wiring if maybe it was hooked up back wards when the plane was put together. Which set of wires are you talking about?
Are you talking about the set of three wires running directly to the motor?
If so, no matter how you connect them, the motor will work. However if the motor runs backward, just interchange ANY two of the three wires to reverse it's direction.
If you are talking about the wires from the ESC to the receiver, these must ALWAYS be wired so that the respective colors match.
e.g.
orange to orange ( signal wire ).
red to red ( positive voltage )
black to black ( negative / ground ).

RE: Help Nitromodels !
The wires going tothe receiver are the small ones with a plug on the end.I know you just plug that in to the receiver. What i was asking about was the 3 wires to the motor. With yellow to yellow,Black to black and orange to orange. My motor runs in the correct direction. If hooked up with black to orange and orange to black the motor did run back wards !
