Default OS 46AX Muffler question

Hello Bax,

I have a nice 46AX and was going to get some gaskets for the muffler. I looked on the TH website to see that the 46AX takes a E-3071 muffler. When I looked at my engine, the muffler is marked as a E-3020. What engine does the E-3020 go to? I'd like to get that back to it's proper engine, and find the E-3071 for this engine.

Thanks for the help,

Bob

The E-3020 muffler is the O.S. Powerbox muffler originally shipped with .46FX and .55AX. The .25LA also had it. The .46AX shipped with the E-3070, and the current .46AXII has the E-3071, which also ships with the .55AX, now.

Thanks for that info, Bax. Was there ever a muffler gasket for these? I couldn't find any reference to one. I'm enclosing this engine in a cowl and wanted to minimize any oil that could possibly escape from there. Thanks very much for your help in explaining those other mufflers,

Bob

OS doesn't use a gasket between the engine and muffler. The fit is usually good enough that leakage isn't a problem.
