Bill, can I return just the crank case and have you guys change out the bearings for me. It is the same OS 61 FSR Special Edition. I need it to fly as the NIB Special Edition I just bought will forever remain dry,

Hi Bill,
I just got the 61 FSR gold head special edition NIB. It did not come with the manual. Can I get the manual for it anywhere? what prop, plug, fuel for this engine?
Thanks in advance.

I just got a 61 FSR but it did not have a carb. After much questioning I decided to go with the 7D carb. This carb has a huge venturi. My 61FX went bye-bye so this engine is replacing it. Since I put the FSR in my a-plane it went from only coating the horizontal with oil to coating the left bottom right horizontal vertical......should I continue. I Do realize that this is an older engine but holy cow. it seems like more oil is coming out of other places than the muffler. Is it spitting back out the venturi. I have this engine on an ultrastick so it is side mounted.
Thanks!!!!!
Thanks!!!!!

I was flying the other day and realized while I was adjusting the carb that the spray I was getting was coming from the front of the engine. I am going to check on replacement bearings.

Spray from the front of the engine indicates a worn case-to-crankshaft fit. The front bearing does not make the seal. The seal is made by a close fit between the case and the crank forward of the carburetor. If a lot of raw fuel is spraying out, then you need a new case, crank, or both. Those parts would be problematic to get at this time, because the engine's been out of production for so long.

Bax,
this doesn't make sense to me because the crank (on the front of the engine) doesn't make contact with the case. The crank goes through the bearing and the bearing contacts the case.

Understood. Thanks. I took my engine apart and discovered a dished out spot in the front of the crankshaft. I immediately knew what was missing (the WOODRUFF KEY). Could this be part of the reason I am getting so much oil out the front?
