Default Home stereo system

Helping a friend choose some components for a home audio system, just 2 channels but we want something that's great for music. I'm good with audio systems but a bit out of the loop in terms of what's good now days. I'm looking at a pair of these maybe:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-051-_-Product

Klipsch RF-62 floorstanding, pair. I have a full set of RF-62's like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Refere...0379858&sr=1-1

It's freakishly awesome and gorgeous sounding. He just want's the floorstanding main ones though.

Other suggestions? Also what would you recommend for a receiver?

go old school, get some big beefy vintage cerwin vega 15" speakers, i have them and they sound better than anything i have ever heard.

all of today's speaker systems are tinny and fake sounding, with bass response too thick and muddy. (and i am talking today's top o' the line)

i run realistic machII and they sound great.

Any price range? I mean I have heard speakers that will blow your mind but the price and experience is not for most (if anyone).

Currently run 2.1 with Klipsch RF-3 and a Elemental Design sub A2-300.
New this would have been well over a grand but got everything for around 600. Sub was on sale and my buddy upgraded his speakers and I got his old one for great price. However, as you know with Klipsch they are very in your face rock style speakers. The only thing I would change for myself is the treble. The tweeter is just a little much for my ears but overall it is a really nice sounding speaker.

KEF are good
Paradigm are good
Revel Performa F32 are amazing

Get him out of the house and test drive find out what he likes.

I know these don't LOOK as sexy as the Klipsche products....but when it comes to sound quality, they just can't be beat.

I've been using this brand for over 15 years in my professional audio production studios and they are industry leading.

If I'd want to get something bigger but along the same lines, I'd go for these:

You want to watch Saving Private Ryan while running the audio through one of these systems....[sm=stupid.gif]

You'll hear things you never knew were there.

They do and then some. Amazing speakers.

For 3000 he can get a really nice system.
Is this just for music or also for home theater?

vintage cerwin vegas will 110lbs a piece and real 400watts 600peak.
new recivers are also crappy in my opinion, no meat, too tinny, with the only advantage is additional surround modulation.
