No laws against it as the horn i considered a saftey feature and as with "loud pipes save lives", horns apply here too. I have a series of 6 air horn trumpets behind the grill of my Ford Ranger....

Most US Fire trucks sirens register between 120 - 140 db....and that's LOUD.

180 is pretty much (exponentially) 6+ times louder than that siren.

Decible levels are a lot like Richter scale readings...I've been to some really loud concerts, standing in front of the stacks.....shirt and pants moving back and forth, fillings rattling loose, bowels wanting to move (lower range)....thankfully, in my profession, I know to plug my ears.

Was being sarcastic, I know decibel readings are Logarithmic but 180 sounds a bit much? Isn't the Shuttle taking off 180db?

Also I have no idea how it is measured since there is no standardised distance from which the decibel meter is placed from the sound source.

I dont know, but I dont really care if its legal or not... its a train horn... in my car.

The only thing that will be a pain in the ass is mounting the compressor and tank somewhere, I hope I can cram it under one of the seats somehow.

Heck, it's Texas, most cops would probably pull you over and say something like, "Damn boy....that's pretty cool. How'd you wire that thing up anyways? I'd like to get me one of them myself."

I'm actually in South Carolina at the moment... Every time I change the location on my profile, it changes back for some reason.
