Default Some Of My Photography + SLR Thread

Hey,
So I usually take pictures of my friends skateboarding or just events and was planning on taking some RC pictures. I use a Canon Rebel XS/1000d and a 50mm f/1.8 mkII lens, some of these pictures were shot with the kit lens though. The 50mm is great and the f/1.8 provides plenty of bokeh. Anyone else into photography and have a dSLR? Maybe we could make like a dSLR thread or a SLR thread just sharing tricks and tips and pictures. Here's some of mine, not too great but eh. They're all taken with the 1000d body and in full manual. Critique please.

So lets see some of your guys' pictures and what your camera setup is.

^ Double post . Love the MGT, the people and the dog. The cat is slightly dark as well as the skateboarder but thats me. Keep up the good work, you should maybe try that HD photography where you shoot the same thing at different exposures and edit it into one photograph.

I have to take a picture of my cat. It looks EXACTLY like the one in the picture. Kind of weird but I wonder if there related? We found our cat on the side of the road when he was little. Just a wild guess.

Wow that lens is massive. 70-300?

I'll try get some more skateboarding pictures but my friends really aren't the best at skating haha.
Woo hoo, more cat pictures. Lol. But for now, [link=http://flickr.com/photos/danielcatbagan]flickr[/link]

Those are some nice pictures Annie. I'd recommend the 50mm f/1.8 mkII lens. For 80 bucks it really is a great lens. The 1.8 allows you to shoot at night with a good shutter speed and shoot indoor shots with no flash. Great lens.

Love the pictures Safety Hawk. How do you like your D80? The bokeh on the cat pictures is really nice. And the colors on the second picture are really nice. Great job!

I was thinking of getting one or a Canon 40d but decided to just go with a Rebel XS.
I'm really happy with my Rebel XS now, if I ever get more serious about this and get a decent job I'll get a Canon 1d mkII or mkIII.

Thanks...the lens is a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR. It's an impressive lens to hang on your camera, but since it's so heavy I don't use it too much unless I need something that's fast or has lots of bokeh. And as far as the D80 goes, I love it. The only thing that I would replace it with would be a D300 or maybe a D90......I'm pretty much sold on Nikon.

Thanks. Do you have the MKII? I was looking at the 75-300 Canon.
I want a 50D next.

Yeah I have the 50mm f/1.8 mkII
The first and second pictures ^ are with it. Great lens.
What I would do is get the 50mm and sell your kit lens and save up for a 75-300 if you want.
