My Dad myself and older brother had a small fleet of Trucks in the mid 70's the longest trip I made (non stop) SOLO was from Oxnard California to Ellsworth Maine reload with seafood and back to Rapid City S.D. slept for more than 28 hrs. after getting home.

Haven't taken a long road trip in a while, the longest one I took was to Sun Valley in Idaho with my parents when I was around 15. The longest road trip I've taken recently where I drove was down to Socal.

Sacramento CA to Independence VA in toyota pickup with overload spings loaded with woodworking tools. Then Sacramento CA to Independence VA in SUV with family + 1 dog and 2 cats. Then Sacramento CA to Independence VA in 23 Foot Moving van. Too many miles, Too many miles.
I do love this hobby, I can't wait until i finish using the woodworking tools on the house and can start building my p-38.

Longest road trip was about 2500 miles there and back. Starting here in Dallas, and round about eventually finding our way to Milwaukee, WI. Same thing back.

RE: YOUR LONGEST ROAD TRIP?
This past 4th of July we (3 couples) went from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale to Key West to Orlando to Crystal Springs to Atlanta in a 34' motor home pulling 3 Harleys - over 1700 miles in all. What an excellent vacation that was, tool'n around the keys on Harleys in perfect whether, awesome. The only bad thing was the A/C went out in the motor home and it's hot in Florida in July. We had lots of cold beer though so all was good.
Other trips I've done are:
Minneapolis to Atlanta
Atlanta to Shreveport
Atlanta to Norfolk, VA
and we, as a family, used to do Atlanta to Indianapolis several times a year.

RE: YOUR LONGEST ROAD TRIP?
I've driven back and forth from my home town a little outside Reno Nv to my wifes home town near Seattle WA numerous times to visit family. It's about 1000 miles and I always drive it straight through. One time though in an emergency in the middle of winter I left WA at about 9PM (had been up since 6AM) and drove straight though in snow only stopping for gas and got to my parents house in NV at about 9pm the next night. That trip sucked.

RE: YOUR LONGEST ROAD TRIP?
We went from Huntsville, Alabama all the way through the southern most states to California. From there, we drove to Bellington, Washington and took the ferry to Alaska and drove around there for awhile. Went to the Arctic Cirle in summer.... not so arctic. Finally, we came back on the AlCan highway through Canada down through the Dakotas and back to Alabama. Right around 10,000 miles. !0-14 hour days of straight driving makes you not want to get in a car again!

From the SF Bay Area to Detroit and back, about 2300 miles each way. I routinely drive to and from Vegas on a long weekend and that is close to 1200 miles round trip.
When I was 10 my parents drove us to Florida and back over a 3 week period during summer. That's roughly 5900 round trip, but I'd swear it was a million miles to get home [:'(]

RE: YOUR LONGEST ROAD TRIP?
You need to come to the USA. Take Limerick and multiply it by a hundred. There you got Chicago. Limerick's population around 100,000, Chicago's metropolitan population around 10,000,000. Oh, and replace the small buildings with skyscrapers, then multiply that by 100. There's nothing like it and driving around Chicago is madness!!! You learn real quick, it don't matter how well you drive, it matters how well you can dodge.

RE: YOUR LONGEST ROAD TRIP?
So basically... Chicago is like a smaller London but with a lot more skyscrapers. At least you have some wide roads there, we still have to drive on old Roman roads lol

RE: YOUR LONGEST ROAD TRIP?
Longest road trip would be from Bridgewater, NJ (Central Jersey) to Clive, IA (and then to Ames, IA). We did it in more than one day though
