Cars Thread
Figure we don't have an active all purpose cars thread (non RC, of course)
2010/11 seems to be a really fascinating year for new cars, lots of new models and technologies coming out from lots of companies.
Discuss cars you own, like, would want to have, hate.

im actually waiting for the new mopar/fiats (something i call mofair) the 500 has a nice mini cooper feel to it.
i am partial to odd/small cars i drive a 93miata now and before that was a 86 fiero gt.
if i was in the market to buy a new car it would be either a Volvo C30R or a camaro, but i would be unable to afford such a car. my dream car would be a viper ACR or a TVR speed8.

RE: Cars Thread
as far as new cars are concerned America hasn't made a decent car sense 1973. and all the cool euro stuff we don't get in the US (with a few exceptions).
hot rods are dead, muscle cars have become nothing more than luxury filled silhouette's of an era gone by. sports cars have become boring redundant peace's of plastic that blend seamlessly into the background of any parking lot.
needless to say im not thrilled about new cars.
i get the hole alternative fuels and green hippy crap. but if i have to drive some boring, bogged down, streamlined, technology filled econobox with power everything and 50 air bags i aint doing it, screw the planet
my dream cars are stuff like a deuce coupe, 34 3 window coupe, 69 roadrunner, 69 camaro, 66 mustang fastback, 56 ford f100, 40 ford, 50 ford, 50 mercury, 54 chevy, 70 chevelle

RE: Cars Thread
I've got a '74 (still rubber bumper) MG Midget...I agree with suburban hooligan about America not coming out with a good car in a long time. I wouldn't say they haven't made any good cars since '73 though, I've heard good things about Ford Focus/Fiesta, but haven't had any experience with them.
And just a funny thing I heard on the radio today, thy were talking about Chrysler bringing int he Fiat 500 and how Chrysler would get people into their showrooms. That made me think that the only way for Chrysler to get people into their showrooms is to sell a car that they DON'T actually make. And I think all PT Cruisers should be banned. And blown up.

No such thing as a Speed 8. There was a Speed EIGHT, and that was an engine, not a car.

joking aside, i'd love a Cooper S, and i actually hated the look of that car when it first came out and even for a couple of years after its release..
if i had a bit more cash an Exige would be nice! likewise a Jaguar XKR.

my spelling sucks[:'(] i have a taste for tuscan chicken now
i wanted to get a cooper S but even used with 130k miles they wanted $10,000, i was then going to buy a 2004 Pontiac GTO (re-badged Australian Holden commodore) for $9,500 but didnt, good thing, at the time i could afford it working 40hours a week, but now im down to 24 and going to auto school 3 days a week.
plus, im saving for education/relocating to Australia (most likley around melbourne) and im about 1/10 there with a $20,000 goal

I`ve owned a cooper `s` for over two years, but recently sold it, god they are a great driving car,
love the whine from supercharger when you get above 3500 rpm`s,
actually i would buy it back again but iv`e just sunk my savings into a new house,
i see that car on the road every day while im driving home from work.
hope to change my car again in the summer to something a bit bigger,
would like to get an audi a4 or something along those lines.

hee.. because people buy things for different reasons.. some people might just be driving it as a reward for their success in life.. some people just want it as status symbol, etc, etc.
Who knows!

RE: Cars Thread
people that buy cars as status symbols aren't worthy of a bus pass. and if you want to reward yourself with a performance car. USE IT! get your moneys worth out of it man

RE: Cars Thread
well my dad just bought an '08 Audi A3 3.2L quattro with only 13k! He wanted the 3.2L over the newer 2.0L so he bought used. We're going to pick it up this weekend. His old car is a 03 mini cooper S JCW that has 132k on the clock and will either be my next car or will be sold and put towards a new car for me.
I'm looking to get a 2005 Mercedes-Benz C230K 6-speed. Anyone here have one. Any complaints or comments? I really want a 2005 cause i don't want the v6 since the 6-speed 2005 is actually faster. haha

RE: Cars Thread
i am nice to my car 90% of the time, but i whip around corners take off like a jet when i have the chance, it will see track time sooner or later.
yep, replaced my diff and trans fluid yesterday and it gave me a reason to shift into second at 7300rpm today
if i ever have a viper or vette or something around those lines, it will get driven the way it supposed to, just on a track, i dont belive in speeding or being a ass on the road (cept for that time i did ...mph in my fiero)

yeah, but 99% of them are never going to see 90mph and the only cornering they are going to do is the freeway on ramp and off ramp.
