Katana P ARF - Saito .72 CG?
Hey Guys! I got the Katana P ARF and plan to put the Saito .72 on it. I know the CG is best at 135mm. Question is, how does this bird balance out with the Saito? Will it come out nose heavy with the Saito slid all the way back in the motor mount slot? I hope to use a heavy MG servo on the rudder at least (For tail banging) and the servo could help achieve the CG without adding weights.

Well I can't say specifically for the Saito but weight is weight. With a TT 46 pro which weighs about 17 oz with muffler I think I can balance fine with the battery in the rear of the wing hatch. I'd suspect the Saito is a hair heavier than the TT so this means you may need a tad of tail weight to compensate. Just put an aftermarket tail whhel assembly and you'll probably be there.

Thanks Mike. So you had your TT all of the way back on the mount?

I have Saito 72 on mine. Just put it in normal, not far back, not close front. Middle.
Set CG at 135mm from leading edge against the fuse.

Dion, I was planning to use .72 to achieve that CG by moving it fwd or aft on the mount. I have another profile, not OMP, that even with metal gear servos (heavy) in the tail, an aftermarket tail wheel (more weight) and the .72 all of the way back on the mount, it still came out nose heavy. Had to loose the spinner and add lighter main gear. I do not wish to add dead weights if I do not have to. Of couse a lighter engine would have solved the problem, but you how it is.
Thanks

Well now I have my gear and tailwheel off. Micro throttle.
Handlaunch and deadstick or "do what I have to do" to get it down if you get my drift. Don't want to get anyone hurt. Mines now at 4 even.
The lighter the better.
