This park is right outside my front door...I live at about the 4:00 position.

Here's a pic from my front porch...

I flew for my very first time this morning! I got an Aerobird for early Christmas, and even though the park is closed right now for re-seeding, I just couldn't wait any more. Perfect day, zero wind.
First launch - right into the ground. I adjusted the elevator trim a little and tried again...up it went! The plane seems to fly very well, I didn't have any trouble with it, seems pretty responsive. Of course, I've never flown one, so I'm comparing it to nothing. I did lots of turns, climbs, dives, I tried flying at various throttle settings, even turned off the throttle and glided. Not much control, there. I figure it will be better when I change to the pro setting and move the control lines. I think I'll wait a few weeks
.
First landing - I panicked a little and had to make several approaches for the landing. It always seemed to me the plane was moving too fast. I finally just let it come down and it was fine; the tail spun around but I was happy with my first.
First crash[:@] - I sent it up again and got cocky...I tried to do a loop. Went into a dive and then pulled up...the plane stalled and went into a spiral...nose down and knocked the wing off. Thought it broke but the rubber bands just came off. One broke. The battery came right out of the cockpit and the hinge tore a little. The prop knocked off some of the protective tape on the trailing edge of the wing, but no damage. I'm going to lay off the tricks for a while...
Overall, a great first experience. I think I'm hooked!

I fly at a soccer/football combination field near my school. Runway parkinglot at 2 O'clock and a massive area to fly with nice thermal/updrafts above the trees. I love to fly my slowstick there, and my dad's Firebird Commander.
Glad you're hooked, this is a great hobby.
