Please see earlier posts by me in last couple of days; http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Need...1504160/tm.htm and http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Stil...1506791/tm.htm
Basically, I'm having trouble with my ESC, receiver, battery setup.
I do not get any power to the receiver, servos or motor when my 9.6v 8cell is plugged into ch3 on my HFS-04MG receiver. What I have to do is plug an additional battery into ch4/b to get any power, by doing this, the servos are powered by the second 4cell 500mAh battery, and the 300C motor is strictly powered by the 8cell 9.6v pack.
However, I and a couple of local hobby shop personnel think the extra weight of the 4cell pack is making it too heavy, because it doesn't want to lift. I am using GWS mini servos, the 300C motor and no extra stuff to weigh it down.
One local hobby shop person looked at it and thinks that my receiver, HFS-04MG by Hitec is not BEC compliant. My Great Planes C-5 ESC is listed as being BEC compliant. I can not find any information to this receiver as being a BEC receiver.
He thinks that if I get a BEC compliant receiver, that I will be able to power the receiver, servos and motor from one pack through ch3, as I am supposed to.
The Slow Stick instruction manual lists a GWR-4N as a recommended receiver, but the information I found on Hitec site also doesn't say anything about being BEC compatible. I also cannot find anywhere this receiver is listed to purchase.
Does anyone agree that this is my problem; not having a BEC compliant receiver by not being able to get power to the servos / motor through ch3? As I say, if I connect a second battery to the receiver battery slot, I get power, and with the ESC to ch3, all servos work and the motor is controllable, but it seems on the heavy side.
I bought this Hitec Neon SS Tx with the HFS-04MG receiver online from Ebay, but was unaware I would possibly need a BEC receiver.
Can anyone steer me toward a BEC 4ch receiver of good quality and reasonable price, so that I can at least get this SS off the ground?
It needs to be compatible with my Hitec Tx on FM, 72Mhz.
Any other ideas or suggestions, please assist. I would like to take up this new hobby, but am getting frustrated. It would have been easier to build a glow plane, as I wouldn't have had these issues, but I wanted to have a cheaper hobby (no cost of glow fuel, and no need to drive long distance to a flying field).
Thanks in advance.
Robert

I don't think your problem is the RX, I think there is something wrong with the ESC. It has the job of shutting down the battery power to the motor when it gets too low. With that extra 4-cell pack, you're too heavy as that pack is no light weight.

The battery is charged. It was put on a volt meter and measured 10.75v. It is a 9.6v 8cell AAA 720mAh pack.
It for some reason is not registering power to the servos and motor through ch3.

From: Martinez, GA,
No. I am not using a gearbox. I have it setup just as pictured in the manual. 300C to a 5amp GP C-5 nano ESC with BEC capibility.
The Hitec FAQ site states that the battery can be plugged into any available slot on the HFS-04MG receiver, but this doesn't seem to be the case. I only get power to the receiver, servos, and motor if I connect a second battery to the ch4/b slot.
What about using a Y-harness from my 8cell AAA pack somehow to Y it to ch3 and ch4. Do you think that would work?
The extra battery pack may make it seem heavy, but looking some pictures of what others have done with their SS (pontoons, cameras, skis, and large battery packs), it doesn't seem like a little 4cell AA pack would really add that much weight to prevent a lift off, even if for a few feet.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert,
I'll leave you with this one last thought. There is no such thing as a "BEC compliant" receiver. This function resides entirely in the ESC. The Hobby shop people you've been talking to are blowing smoke up your tailpipe and your ESC is just plain bad. Have them give you your money back and go elsewhere.
Good luck.
chris.
