I recently completed the GWS Tiger Moth and everything went well except the cheap little rubber bands they call tires will not stay on. Are there any ideas or solutions? Also, I'm using a modified cell phone battery pack and easily get over 30 minutes flight time. I'm sure that's not news for anyone who's been in this hobby very long but it was exciting to me to be able to fly more than a few minutes at a time.

I haven't been able to taxi for a take off with this plane due to the cheesy wheels. I've managed to get it airborne once but since then have had trouble with the rubber wheels falling off or causing erratic taxi behavior. Just thought someone out there may have had similar problems.

Try DuBro or Hobby Lobby for ultra light wheels. Get the regular wheels not the cheap spoked type that come with the Tiger Moth. They don't weigh much. I use them on my Slow Stick.

Thanks for the info. I'll try that and see how it works out. Also, as a reply to the previous note, I live in SW Utah and it would be really nice if I could find an area with tall grass to use for landing. The most we have is rocks and cactus unless you can use a golf course and the golfers tend to get a little upset when you fly over their heads as they get ready to tee off.

Golfers are a touchy lot. If you can get to the local high school on a weekend, when there's little activity, a football field makes a good flying site. Before the beginning of noise control we used to fly controline on football fields often. Now they're too close to residences. If someone says anything just start up your motor and let them hear how quiet things can be.

P.S. Forgot to mention that most football fields are surrounded by a running track. Take off on the hard surface and land on the grass. Best of both worlds if you can find the right place. If the school objects just tell them you are willing to show young kids all they need to know about model aircraft. Might even get a few started in the hobby.

I glued the rubber tire on with thin ca have not had a problem with the rubber falling of . Had a problem with the bottom wing snapping . put some .5 oz fiberglass cloth on center of bottom wing can now pull as hard as I wqant on elevator to do 5 6 loops in a row.
Unless you realy gtrease the landing the wire on the wheels will fold and if the grass is just a little long it will not lift off grass . I hand launch mine most of the time
