Hello all!
I have been flying glow and gas planes for a bit as well as experimenting with electrics. I've played with lipo batteries and have a few foamies that my 6 year old use for his training and my 3D.
What I am looking for is a quick to assemble (5-10 hours) foamie or balsa/monocote plane that we can take down to our 2 acre pond and have fun with. I have looked at adding floats to my GWS tigermoth, but they are way too heavy. I am also not looking to convert a traditional plane like a Great Planes J-3 Cub to electric and spend $600+ doing it. I am looking for a plane/ARF that I can drop a receiver and battery in and start to have fun with off of my pond. I am not against bashing or fabricating a few parts with balsa, glass, and epoxy but I would like to see a finished product that has worked well for others. I have tried Hobby Lobby and didn't find too much that caught my eye.
Can you all give some websites, products and info to help a guy find a nice electric float plane?
Larry

check out a couple of threads down, the PZ j-3 on floats. Buy the pieces for the cub seperately, put your radio in it, and buy the GWS floats. Pics look good on the thread. Only thing would be to remember to add the water rudder.

Well, I'd recommend putting in a little time and going with something like a house of balsa kit schoolyard scale Decathlon, and converting it to electric. Total weight on these traditional builds are about 24oz with radio. They build super quick, all laser cut!

Check out www.plawner.net Some guy has converted the Multiplex Twin Star II into a boat plane. It's perfect for it. No gear, High wing with the two speed 400's mounted high EPP and aerobatic.
