Infinity P-38

I've almost finished this kit and its construction is nothing short of amazing
It is solid foam with a stiff plastic skeleton molded inside! All the hinges, wing ,and necell suports are also molded into the foam. The supports that run from the body through the mid wing to the necells double as conduits for the wiring so nothing is exposed
. I wont be flying this until spring ( note to self move to a warmer state ) so I have not put the reciver in yet (Santa my be bring me a Spectrum 6) but have tested the power system.
I used there recomended brushless combo (EMI BLS 2629-10-100 1000KV B/L Motor ) and it is spinning the 9x6 3 blade props I put on just fine. It should have plenty of power

Man that looks awesome. And I like that your first pic looks like most of my pics with said beverage in the background.
I would also like some more info on that great looking bird.

i believe that's the emi kit that infinity hobby distributes...if so, there's a lot of information and photos of it in the link below...it's a very well made kit and i recommend it to anyone with low wing aileron experience...the foam quality is superb (you have to see it to believe it) and there's no glue involved in putting it together...from what i remember, there's only about 8 screws that holds everything together...she looks and flys great...

Heres the site
http://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/p...roducts_id=602
It comes with landing gear but I'm not using it. I land in tall grass in a farm field and it just gets tangled and flipps the planes. I got mine painted without the power system. and orderer the brushless system they offered. The plane is solid foam with a molded in suport styructure of stiff plastic. It comes in four major components two necells, stabalizerand, wings / fusalage. The cowls and necell covers are vaccuum formed plastic and seam to be sturdy. I have only put together 4 foam kits (gws f4u,two hobby lobby p-51s, artech christen eagle ) and a scratch built stryker but this is by far the best built kit I've seen. Its also built far better than my two park zone warbirds.
BTW the plne itself was $89 or so and the power system two brushless motors with esc's was $99
and they got it to me in 4 days! The only glue that was involved was the motor mounts, I epoxied them for some added strength. I can't wait for spring to fly this baby ( not to self move to warmer state!)

as an option the rudders can be made functional. Theres already a place for the servo and a tube for the control rod. the foam just needs to be cut away from the rudder(the hinge is already installed i think)

Wow.
ea01bg thank you for sharing, i think i just decided on my next plane.
The only thing that I was a little wary about was that I didn't think it would have replacement parts as readily avaiable as my PZ Warbirds - not that i crash them .. much, but HEY you neve know! lol! - This all went away though when i check out that website, they have a full line up of replacement stuff for the p-38!!

I'm hoping they make some additional warbirds soon
If these guys can put a P-38 of this quality out for 80 or so bucks can you imagine what they could do with a single engine plane!

JR RS77S S-PCM 72MHz Auto Scan Receiver
Heya, quick question, I havent had time to read up on electronics and what not (im still new at this), but I noticed the above receiver listed in the P-38 parts scans for receivers so you can use an existing controller to this plane - are there any kind of restrictions on the controller?
I have two PZ controllers, that came with my PZ planes and I just wanted to know if I could reuse them ( I think they're CH 4, 27.145)
thx!

heya ea01bg,
Another quick question...I just got done reading the RCGroups thread (41 pages lol!)...are you still using the brushed stock setup? and if so, what battery are you using? a 3cell 2100 mah Lipo?

Ok I ordered one yesterday, thinking of using either the RimFire or TP2410-9Y motors, leaning towards the 9's as they have a long shaft, both though are 1000 kv units. Also ordered the mounts and a pair of 3 blades from the site too. Not a P38 unless it has 3 blades.
Think I might go with a "YIPPEE" skeem since I already have 2 green, 1 white and 1 silver versions.

Heya Glacier Girl, what are the specs on the RimFire or TP2410-9Y motors you were looking to get? and what battery will you use?
I read a couple postings from the RC Groups thread on people using the 3 blade prop and what i took away from it was that the 3 blades stressed the motors more, drawing more amps, is this correct?

The Rimfires are from Horizon, the 2410-9y's are from here, www.aarchobby.com
I use the 9's in my Hobby Lobby B25, and used them in my one other P38, both spinning 3 blades and they worked out fine. If memory serves me, in the B25 they pull 16.8 amps combined, and I run them off a single 3S2100 lipo. For props I think I'm going with the 3 blade units from Hobby Lobby, instead of the ones I ordered. Comes as a hub and 3 seperate blades. Blades are a lot less prone to breaking vs ones like the MAS or APC versions, though no counter rotating versions.
Part # on them is FS300.
I'm planning on doing mine as a belly lander, so will need some blades that will take some abuse.

Well almost done with mine. Just have to add the "YIPPEE" decals.
Had to take it out this morning and taxi around the driveway.......Hey it's Christmas,, gotta play with my toys.
I'm impressed to say the least, somebody took their time designing this kit. Every thing fits, foam is really nice, and takes paint easily.
Went with the TP2410-9Y motors, 1000 kv, Hobby Lobby 3 blade 9x7's, Dubro 1 3/4" spinners, TP 30 amp esc's, Hitec 55 servos, Spectrum Rx, and a Thunder Power 3S2100 lipo.
I bored out the spinner back plates to just fit over the prop adapters I used. When the prop cone is bolted up tight is pulls every thing into place.

They are Dubro 1 3/4" 3 blade versions.
Got the "YIPPEE"s on tonight and the remade stars and bars on the wings, and the correct tail numbers. Supplied decals are too thin I ended up with purple and pink stars and bars.
Guess I'll have to redo the boom units too and color in the intakes.
