Default Hitec Receiver

I'm having problems with my JR 8103 radio and the 05SMS Receiver talking to each other. I stuck a JR Xtal into it and nothing. Do I need to buy a Xtal for this receiver on the the channel that my radio is tuned to? I have been in the hobby for a number of years now and haven't had this problem with JR / JR match ups but this is the first time I purchased a Hitec Rx. I am sold on their servos and building a flat out with V pitch I figured I would just get the flight pack. I mention this because I am having issues with JR Rx in my other planes but it's not a range, there is nothing there on the Rx end. My radio works fine on my other flying planes but not on the new ones I have built installing the electronics. Anyone with any help would be appriciated.

Hi Badger -

Your Hitec Micro 05S will work with your JR transmitter. You don't have to worry about the shift, because the Micro 05S automatically detects the shift of the transmitter and selects the correct shift.

However, the receiver needs the proper Hitec crystal on the same channel as your transmitter. You can not use a JR crystal in the Hitec receiver. Get the proper Hitec crystal for the receiver, and you should be all set.

Thanks all for the help, I ordered the correct crystal today.

I thought it was something simple like that, just couldn't see the forest for the trees.
