Slowstick BL

You can get a TP - 12T BL outrunner and speed controller for under $20 bucks that will hover this plane or fly really slow.

Or even a Tower Pro 2410-9Y motor, spins a GWS 12 x6, on a 3S2100 pack
Motor is around $12.00 or so depending on who you buy it from. Even comes with a motor mount that fits the SS fuselage.

I've used an Aurora 300DF brushless motor for 2 years now. This motor has been on 3 different slowsticks. I upgraded to the cobri 30 aluminum gearbox after breaking 2 of the plastic ones. I just got the 400DF motor for more power. The best place to get these motors and assesories is at www.sureflite.com.
This slowstick currently it outfitted with a video camera, drop mechanism (for parachute guys), red/green/white navigational LEDs (thats the purple tape on the leading edge), and custom tail feathers (made out of 2mm coroplast). Flies great; hovers, vertical performance, 1hr flights on 3cell1300mAh battery.

With thermaling and lift from small hills and trees I have flown for 1hr+. But 1/4 to 1/2 throttle on a calm/no natural lift day with a couple take offs and landings I usually get 50 minutes to an hour. Compared to my GP Rimfire motor it is far more efficient. It's about as efficient as AXI motors of the equivilent size. I found a really small high-def Cannon camcorder for my aerial video. I think the long flight times has to do with the huge amount of lift on the slowstick dihedral wing. But yeah. Its really fun.

lbnacl,
I have always used a 3 cell lipo (11.1 volts) to power my BL motors in this class. You should get between 30 and 45 minutes from a 1500 mah battery.
CrocEnd,
Like Slo-V Flyer posted the E-Flite 10 specs indicate that it will hover a 36 oz. plane so the real question is what is your wing loading? If it is fairly low this motor will work OK at low throttle to provide slow flight and give you the ability to really get wild with it if you want to. So as long as you have a low wing loading with this large motor you are OK.
To all,
Listen to Glacier Girl. The guy knows his s$%t when it comes to all this. He has done a lot of testing. I believe that he has a Slo-V or Slow Stick with a BL motor on it that gets about an hour of air time per battery pack. Not to mention the wicked fast Stryker builds he has shredded over time. I defer to him on all things RC.
