Hey guys,
I can fly 3 channel planes very well and I am ready to step up to a 4 channel plane. I have RF G4.5 and I can fly 4 channel planes on it with no problems. Even in winds up to 10 mph.
I had been looking around at alot of planes before I made my final decision. On the advice of a friend I bought the plane mentioned above. I must admit, I am really not a fan of profile planes. This plane is thicker than your average profile plane but it is more of a profile than I prefer. I really like to have my gear inside the plane for appealing Aesthetics. But now that I have it, I might as well build it and try it out.
Let me say this, I am not experienced at all in building planes or the terminology involved. My favorite type of plane to buy is a Plug and play. I like to take the plane out of the box, put together the already cut and glued pieces and put my receiver in it and go fly and have fun. I know what a wing is and I know what a fuselage is and a elevator, rudder, stabilizer, and ailerons. I know about linkages and I have been pretty good or lucky at modifying RTF planes, but that is about it. This plane came with the worst directions I have ever seen. There aren't really any directions. and the drawings aren't self explanatory either.
So here are my questions.
Is there an illustrated thread on this forum where someone has built one that I can refer to? That would be great so I can just read the thread.
If not, then I really need alot of help, because I don't even know where to start.
Also, the plane doesn't look anything like it does in the picture on Graves RC site. On their site is shows a painted rounded top of the fuse. The one I received is flat on top and not painted on top.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Gerald

No help yet, huh??
So far I have glued the wing together after cutting the 20mm off the aileron. I have glued a 1.8mm CF rod in both the wing and fuse, I also glued the motor mount on the fuse and also used a couple of small wooden dowels and glued them into the plane through the motor mount about 2.5" deep to help keep it from popping off later (see pic) and let them dry over night. I will cut the wood dowels off with a dremel. My fuse did have a very slight warp from the factory, when I put the CF rod in, I put a small weight on the fuse over night while it dried and now it is straight I am using he UFO por that was recommended. I am surprised that it is still tacking this morning, but strong enough for me to keep working.
So what is the next step. I have heard some guys talking about being careful with the CG and that the way the book says to do it is not exactly correct.
Should I mount the wing servos first and all other electronics including the motor and do the tail servos last, to make it easier to set the CG? or what?
Eagerly waiting
Thanks
Edit: oops, I just remembered, I need to glue the wing to the fuse first and they landing gear mount. Should I continue to use the ufo por for that? or should I use some 5 minute epoxy?

use cf strips in the wing and fuse. i do not think the string with CA glue is very strong. i also use a small CF rod thru the horiz stab to siffen them also well. on my second flight the left side came off mid flight. [
] make sur to measure from the tip on the wing to the tip of the tail to make sre the tale is aligned ok. for me it made know diffrents if i put the tail servos frist or last. you can make the fianlly CG adjustment with were you put the battery. i also cut slit down both sides of the fuse and put the servo wires in the slit. i did the same for the with doing this hides almost all the wire nicely. also if you are using velcro for the ESC, Recv, and battery put a layer of expo were each of these will be wait for it to dry then put the velcro on. with out it the velcro will not stick for long. i also used 5-mineut expro for everything.
hope this helps

Could someone tell me if the stab/rudder mount needs any tape or anything at the bottom where it meets the fuse. I know it needs to be cut at a 45deg angle but does it need tape? Here is a picture I borrowed from another thread to show you the exact place I am talking about.

I figured, while I am waiting for some help, I would ask another question.
Has anyone found any good alternative landing gear.
For my Exceed Piper Cub, I used the landing gear for a HZ Super Cub. It fit pretty well. I have tried several different wheels, but the problems is that the wire that the wheels go on is not long enough to be able to put something on the end to hold on the wheel. I need to find some thinner wheels.
