Default Stupid Sledge building question

I'm finally getting to build the Sledge that I received from my wife for Christmas and already I have a question. When building the wing they mention the "preformed trailing edge pieces".

I found in the old threads that they weren't included in the original kits, and one of the guys suggested just using 1/4" x 1/4" stock. Can someone tell me what the current instructions say?

Thanks

Rod

rrowely, You need to sand the required angle on a 1/4x1/4 x 24 do you have the color Instructions?

I thought the preformed TE piece was just a 1/4x1/4 inch balsa stick...LOL

I didn't sand anything on the wing except the LE and didn't even sand that too much...

I actually sanded all the tail surfaces, all around the fuselage, and the wing leading edge...Just did it in about 5 minutes.

I think she's pretty light now Chuck...This tiny nimh sure makes me think so...

RRowley, there was a change in the manual, there was originally supposed to be a preformed piece but it never happened. Many kits went out the door without that piece, sorry but just use a 1/4" sq. stick and sand it to the contour of the ribs before you glue it to the rib's trailing edge. Jeff Williams and you may email me at [email protected] if you have any other questions.

Thanks Jeff, I'll let you know if I have any more problems. There was some mention here about a new tail. Should I try to get hold of a plan for the new one, or just use the original. I am not good enough to do any tail touching, so if it was just a beef up I probably don't need it. I am looking forward to finishing the plane.

Misguided energies...

If you had spent half as many strokes with a sanding block rounding your LE as you have keystrokes on the computer griping about it, it would be round.

You have to have priorities in life. I like round LE's. How 'bout you??

RRowley, I can supply the new tail if you like. It will give a little better performance but if you are not totally performance driven like me it will not make a bit of difference to you. You may email me your address if interested at [email protected].
BRW, we are going to change that leading edge piece back to what I originally had in the kit which is a piece of 3/4" tri stock to form the leading edge instead of that 1/4" balsa that is extremely difficult to sand, but it can be done. Jeff Williams
