I have an ARF Knife. Although I can hover this plane, I cant seem to get it to spin on the prop. I have a TT Pro 46 w/11-4 ASP. Is the secret in the engine prop combo, or ???????

If you want to torque roll you'll have to cheat a little with the ailerons. Of course if you use any ailerons what so ever then it's not a torque roll. It's just a stationary vertical aileron roll.
My Knife won't TR at all. It might make a quarter or half rotation and then it will stop and sit there.

You have to find "perfect vertical". For your Knife, that's just a tad on it's back.
If you try descending a little while hovering, that will definitely help it roll. It's harder to hold the tail under the prop, but it will roll.
If there is wind, you have to be going with the wind. Can't hold it stationary if there is wind and have a torque roll. Has to be NO wind relative to the airplane.
Try an 11.5x4...
Kick in some aileron to cheat.
The real solution is more torque...That means a 4 stroke like a Saito .72 or YS .63.

Gator, I thought you don't bother with that silly aircraft setup stuff.
Your knife should tork roll easily without cheating. you must keep it 90 degrees + or - very little. If it tilts forward or back it kills the roll.
Try backing it down in a tork roll, it will spin so fast it will water your eyes. :stupid:

Kirk, Jeff Williams is in town, and we are going to fly some this weekend. Give me a call or stop in to find out when. We flew some tonight, but didn't talk about tomorrow. Mine TR's fine with the Saito .72. the bigger prop helps. Tom

I have been flying a knife kit all summer, and I am not a good TR at all. everynow and then I can get a full turn. But I got to fly Gators sledge today, and it will TR alot easier than a knife.

Well, I was getting one turn, when all the sudden the darn thing just puts on the breaks, stops dead. but at least I'm gaining. I still have to try the 11-5 as suggested earlier. I'm still thinking that will do something for me..

As far as the prop for torque rolls, it really won't make much of a difference for the roll rate. The 11.5x4 will just give you more thrust...
