Default An E-Sledge is born to help with the long winter.

Through a lot of research, and asking questions as well as a requirement for seemingly endless finances, the winter will be shorter up here in Alaska. I also get a lot of questions about Alaska so I had this one airbrushed with a mountain background. It is hard to find anyone to do this and this was her first attempt. Not quite what I was looking for but she tried really hard.

This thing is a Blast to fly. I have had trouble finding a place to fly indoors, more trouble than I thought it would be. They did let me try it in the Ice rink and that was cool.

I am not used to flying a plane with a throttle response this instant or with this much power WOW. The only down side to flying outside is the batt only lasts about 5 minutes before I don't have enough power to hover and the servos get lethargic. So the indoor hunt will continue.

Oh yeah in the pic the temp was about -8 F

Well the kit is from Jeff Williams and He could give you more specs than I could.

The onboard gear is a Himax 2115-4100 with a GWS EPS 300-C gearbox with D gearing.

Castle Creations Phoenix 25 AMp speed control

GWS pico+ servos

E-Tech 3S 1200 Mah Batt.

GWS 4P reciever.

What a performer STABLE in a hover and harriers great. It also does this tight rudder turns that you can climb or decend with throttle control. Puch the power and it goes ballistic.

Claims he's been "Working". Yeah, working on his indoor/paint jobs. I don't think he was ready for cameras/other people.

Actually Keykey and I are taking the airbrush class together. He has been working alot lately, as have I. He has not been practicing, that I know. It will cool to see how this class helps our schemes, I am excited about learning more airbrushing techniques as I know none now. I wonder what a Keykey scheme would look like, any ideas Chuck? Hey Lom... That thing looks great!! I'm just putting an e sledge together I made out of BlueCor... I traced my buddy Jess Rozman's e sledge.. I'll probably do one for Gator tooo

Got a chance to fly one of these Tuesday... I can definately say, it's the best e bird I've flown todate.... Blows the trident and my flat edge in the weeds.... Can't wait to get mine done.

Yeah it's a hell of a machine, I am having some problems with the carbon popping off. but I have a theory that the temperature changes might be a little responsible for that.

Composites are awesome for tension loading but not so good for compression.

I built mine with C/F tube .180". Just routed a groove part way through the foam for it to lay in. It may be marginally heavier than the I-Beam, mine came in at 12 oz. even. I showed it to Jeff and he said it was a lot stiffer than his. It will definately take a hit.You might keep it in mind for your next one. If you get as cocky with yours as I do with mine there will be a next one[:@]
Off subject: I just got a package from Morris (Sledge kit)

The groove in the foam method I used for my 3DX worked out pretty well. I did not route it but instead sanded the groove in plave then used Elmers Pro-Bond and it worked out prettey well. Too bad I don't really care for how it flies though. (compared to the E-Sledge)

I felt that the I-Beam was a lot stiffer than the carbon tube, but it seems to be more prone to failure. Not catastrophic failure just annoying. I happen to have some more depron and carbon tubes laying about so maybe I should put them to good use

Glad to hear you are all having fun with the E Sledge. I have an extra E330 about ready. need to do a couple more mods and it will be ready. We are scheduled to fly January 31 indoors so that will be the next time I get to test the Extra. As it is right now I love it, just trying some stuff to see what it does performance wise. I will keep you all posted on this extra. Jeff Williams

That extra is a sweet plane as well. Of course all I really did were upright harriers, and hover/TR's. So I can't comment on soem of its other qualities. Jeff sure made it look good though! But then again, he could 3D a 2X4!

Working my arse off is right. I just got home from work about 10 minutes. This is the first time Ive even had a chance to sit down and browse RCU in 3 weeks. Dave, I really wish I had beeen practicing....whether it be airbrushing or flying.

Now I just hope I can make time for the airbrush classes that Ive paid for and are non-refundable.

Hey Dave, Im still trying to make the fly-in on Sunday even though Jeff Willliams is going to be tied up. Tell me something....is the place going to be larger with a longer period of flying time that the golf dome? The only thing I have to fly is the E-Sledge and she's not going to tolerate much more abuse. She has maybe one or two more mid-airs in her before she'll be forced to retire. If I come up it will be with Now_Torquin and Tom Millet so maybe if I have to retire my only flying bird they'll let me fly their's.

Oh wait a minute.......That's Now_Torquin Im talking about.....He'll be down for the count after the first 20 minutes...DOHHHH!

Tailspnr, Its not quite as big as the dome but we have it for 8 hours, 9-5.
Glad to hear your coming, and Tom will like it I know the small gym at home was a little tight for his first indoor.
We should have a bunch of 3-ders in attendance. And a strong showing of PRO BROS
If you guys need directions let me Know,

Dave, I definately need directions to the event. I havent looked to see if I still have the flier that you gave me up in Indy but I'll look. Couls use the directions anyway. I spoke with Now_Torquin last night and he said he wont be abke to make the event. I'll be calling Tom to see if he wants to come up with me.
